So right now im torn, I was in the market to get a springfield MC operator but then saw the kimber custom tle/rl II. I was wondering of those two, and only those two, which one would be a better buy. In terms of reliability, features, and durability?

operator or custom tle/rl?

Chevy vs. Ford type of question. The people who like SA's will say the Operator, the Kimber fans will say the TLE.Originally posted by pulserifle99So right now im torn, I was in the market to get a springfield MC operator but then saw the kimber custom tle/rl II. These two guns have different cuts on the frame. The SA is cut higher in the back but not under the trigger guard. The Kimber is a little lower in back but higher in front. The Kimber has front strap checkering, the Operator doesn't. Night sights are standard on the TLE. Depending on which operator you choose, it may or may not have night sights. You should make sure you handle each one and get the one that feels better in your hand. -
what one
I own kimbers and springfields. I do have a springfied trp op and to be very honest with you I would always pick up the kimber over a springer. I own 5 springfields of one fashion or another and one kimber. I have had qc issues on every single springfield I own. The kimber as well as all kimber owners I know has always been amazingly accurate out of the box. As a matter of fact I had a nowlin barrel installed on my kimber after 120k rounds and ended up putting the old barrel back in because it shot better. I have new barrels of kart, nowlin, etc on my springers with exception to the operator because they all NEEDED it. I have one kimjber because frankly I have no reason to replace it. I have 5 springfields because I am always looking for one that doesnt need a ton of work to be accurate and tight. Kimber fits the hand better has better trigger job and the fit and finish is ALWAYS better unless you spend $2,500 on a custom shop springer."Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Ben FranklinComment

I have a TRP no problems at aside from initial break in. I have 10K rounds throught my pistol. Goes bang every time. The only thing i don't like about it are the MIM parts they use in the sear and disconnector which would eventually wear down. Kimber uses MIM as well.
Kimber's are nice. But i like the simplicity of a series 70 pistol.Comment

I believe so. Mine has internal extractor, which I got from a dealer in Aug. this year. I have heard that Kimber went back to internal extractor because there were too many problems with the external extractor. Is this true, Kruzer?Originally posted by Jason_RAre they selling the TLE/RL II w/ the rail with the internal extractor now?Comment

Own a MC Operator myself (carry it everyday in a Milt Sparks VMII) and love it. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Only think I've done to it was installed Gunner Grips and bought 5 Wilson 8 Round Mags.
Never had a aproblem with it and its a nail driver. Now everyone I know that owns a Kimber has had to send them back for one thing or another. A few of them have done nothing but bitch and complain about Kimber's customer service.
I love the lifetime warranty on the Springfield also. But like it was mentioned already its a Ford vs Chevy (Avalanche all the way) question.Comment

Older production Kimbers are awesome. I have an old Kimber Gold match (pre-FP safety) and it has been 100% from day one- tight fit, excellent accuracy, no jams or FTFs EVER. I did handle some ner Kimbers at 06 SHOT show, and they were loose, and generally felt like a 10 year old Brazil-made SPringfield.
Ont he other hand, the new Springfields felt tight and high quality, so I bought a TRP Operator to keep my gold Match company. One look and inspection sold me that gun.
