H&K beat them to it (and did it better with the trigger on the handle)

Oh great. I can see it now:

A waiting period on the purchase of luggage. (We wouldn't want some hothead walking in to a mall and walking out with a carry on bag the very same day.)

No briefcase under 31 inches unless properly registered with the state. (Too easy to hide from Big Brother if it is less than 31 inches.)

Issuance of briefcase safety certificates. (With a nice fat fee naturally.)

The 'Safe Luggage' list. (Goodness knows the blue one is far less 'safe' than the green one.)

And if you plan on putting it in the trunk you had better have a CLP (Concealed Luggage Permit, which, by the way, will be all but impossible to obtain in most parts of the PRK.)

Uncle Sugar already beat you to it. This type of briefcase is an NFA item!

Used to be that the case was an over-the-counter item, but ATF got involved and the cases are now an NFA item into and of themselves.

HK did not beat MAC to the punch - Mitch Werbell had the case concurrent with the original MAC production, long before HK even had the MP5K.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.
