    quick sig refinish question?

I just got the p225 and was wondering about refinishing the slide. I used the spray on epoxy (bake on)

I have read it is best to sandblast before spraying so you have a good surface to work with. However, im worried the sandblasting is going to cause small pits in the slide. any idea what blasting material you recommend? Do you even recommend sandblasting or just cleaning the original holster worn surface?

How do i remove those original sights?

    Thanks

sandblasting will not pit the slide.

Al oxide or glass beads will work just fine, keep the pressure lower if you are worried about that.

You need a Sig sight pusher...

      Hi,
Sig and several other companies make a sight adjustment/installation tool. I used to own one but sold it for $75 a while back... When using it would be a good idea to apply some tape on the side of the sight you are moving to prevent the tool from marring the surface of the sight. Maybe someone on this forum could help you out by loaning you one or helping you out. If I still had mine I'd loan it to you, perhaps another member... Good luck!

I would send it to sig and get a factory Nitron finish, its not that expensive and looks great.

I had my 225 slide done at Tripp Research. Tripp does great work and his prices are good. I sold the 225 so don't have any pics.

Don't mess with refinishing a Sig yourself, especially an older 225. I would send the gun to Robar, Birdsong or CCR and have it professionaly done. It'll look better and won't decrease the value of your gun.
