    Confused about Roster - Glocks

I am considering getting a Glock 17 Gen 3; my S&W 59 is just not pleasurable to shoot; and I might shoot a pistol more if it were actually enjoyable.

That being said, I am a little confused on if the US-made vs Austrian-made issue is still a thing in this state?

Put another way, I am wondering if the online resellers advertising "CA - compliant" Glocks can generally be relied upon to provide something that is actually 100% compliant, if this country of origin thing is still a thing.

Sorry, probably a dumb question; I am more an AR guy.

Disregard, got off my lazy butt and did some extra googling.

I guess this is the situation:

Yes, still an issue. Must be Austrian made
But, probably not something to be overly concerned since US made are generally for export only and would be exceedingly rare to come across.

Yes, CA-compliant would mean it’s Austrian made.

Glock 17’s seem to be on most shop shelf’s now. No need to order.

Yeah but they seem cheaper online, and generally with free shipping?

Idaknow, maybe local FFL fees tend to more than make up the difference or something?

Buy a cz 75b or Sp01 it will shoot way better than a glock, only advantage a glock has it is a lighter weight being plastic so better for CCW

USA made Glock Gen 3 are hardly "exceedingly rare" to come across in the US. They are everywhere except CA

OK, so.. I guess my original concern IS a little warranted. If I buy online, better verify it's Austrian. I mean, yeah, probably not a huge risk if the online shop is at all reputable though.

I like my CZ 75B… A gun designed in 1975. However CZ 75 magazines are much more expensive (around $40 each) and not as plentiful as Glock 17 mags, at a cost of only $25 each. Glock 17 mags are also found everywhere, literally and they are pretty much “bullet proof.”

If you want a “shooter” that can outperform in all adverse conditions, stick with the light weight Glock 17. Glock dominates the free world right now within various militaries and LE, over the CZ 75B and there’s a reason for that.

You should be able to get one locally for $500 now. What kind of prices are you seeing online that warrant shipping one in?

Cheaper online maybe until your FFL hits you with a $150 fee to have it shipped in when they sell them all day long on their shelf. OP, its going to come to the same price regardless. Buy local, support your local FFL. You are saving pennies and only aggravating the FFL. Most FFLs are going to charge you a fee to process the gun thats shipped to them, especially when they find out that you could have bought one from them.

Correct - must be Austrian made, and you can buy either Gen 1, Gen 2 or Gen 3.
