Did ruger recess some of the cylinders on the gp 100 revolvers?

    GPs? Highly doubt it.

Colt Pythons aren't, or not any I've seen. A recessed cylinder on a revolver is big manufacturing expense.

GPs are work horses, not show horses. If you are looking for more show...you are on the right track with the recessed cylinders
feature. But if you want to stay with Rugers the 1970s Service & Speed Sixs are more fun to shoot than the GPs.

I wanna say they did on some of the Speed 6's, as I seem recall a friends had the feature. Don't think I've seen a GP100 with it.

I don’t remember Ruger GP100 having recessed cylinder, nor any special batches that ordered recessed cylinders. My King Cobra has recessed cylinder.

I've had two Ruger GP 100 in years past, and non had recessed cylinders, nor have I seen or read one that was offered by the factory with that feature.

There could be someone out there who might have owned one in stock configuration then sent it to a customizer to have his GP 100 upgraded and customized??

Since the cylinder is just long enough for .357 ammunition, there is no way that you could have the cylinder recessed by a gunsmith, nor could Ruger put in a factory recessed cylinder, and have the gun still be able to shoot .357 ammunition. On top of that, there would have to be enough material on the extractor star to accommodate the recess. IF all that were doable (and was done competently) you could only shoot .38sp ammunition, as .357 ammunition would be too long and extend past the cylinder.

              Gp100

              That's what I thought
There was one in the handgun sales that had a cut cylinder
My guess is it was set up for a type of moon clip
              Hope he tells the buyer
