    I bought a Glock 20 - now what?

Today I purchased a Used Glock 20. It needs a new recoil spring, other than that it is solid.

If you were me, what is the first thing you would do with it / buy for it?

I was thinking along the lines of some of the ammo DoubleTap sells with the 135grain Nosler @ like 1600fps.

I am mostly a 1911 and revolver guy, and while I've owned some Glocks, this is my first 10mm. What do you suggest.....

Shoot it as soon as possible. You'll love it, I sure love mine.

I always thought 135 was a little on the light side. Why don't you try the 155 or 180 grains? Those are more standard weights for the 10mm. I never liked light for caliber bullets in large calibers.

Congrats!! If you don't reload now is the time to start. The first tihing I would change are the sights. I have 10-8 sights on mine and they rock. Second I would order a 4 1/2lb. disconnector from Glock's parts department. Make sure you tell them it is for a G 34 or 35 because they will not sell you a 4 1/2lb for any other gun. It makes a huge difference over the standard 5 1/2lb. Then dry fire the hell out of it to get use to the gun.

buy a 40sw barrel for it ... 40 feels like 10mm lite when shooting and is much cheaper... then switch barrels and set the world on fire with the double tap....

Having just purchased a G20 myself I can say that you will want an extended slide release. Also, the stock spring is 17 lbs., so I'd get another one to duplicate that. Outside of that, there's really nothing else you need aside from ammo.

There's a small gun store in Orange that had some HD ammo, it's only 1050 fps but that's perfect for HD on a 10mm. Other than that you really can't get ammo for the 10mm at this time. Wait until there's another gun show and then try and get some there.

Also, I've read numerous posts about not touching the 5.5lbs trigger. If anything they say to just polish it and it cleans up nicely.

Yeah, you'll want to start reloading unless you go with a .40 barrel which works well from what I understand.

Personally, I'd rather just shoot the 10mm and reload. The 10mm is probably one of the most versatile rounds ever, especially for a handgun. Especially in the Glock, you can change springs and really play with the loads and get some wild results.

                      Spring, then reloading setup.

If you're going to shoot new ammo:
I would go with a heavier spring if you're gonna shoot Double Tap ammo or any other hot loads. DT sells springs. Buy bulk from Georgia Arms for range practice. I've had good luck so far (no KaBooms) shooting new ammo out of the factory barrel (I have a G29).

If you're going to shoot reloads:
Buy an aftermarket barrel for better case support. Put a round in your factory barrel and you'll see where the case is not supported. You don't wanna shoot reloaded brass unsupported in that area. That's where all the KaBooms come from.

Shoot the gun before you decide you wanna change anything. If you slingshot the slide rather than use the slide lock, you don't need the extended release lever, etc.

10mm ammo is expensive, but it's out there. Easier to order it online. Luckily for me, I bought most of my 10mm stash 2 years ago.

Ammo...ammo...ammo. It's really not that hard to find online. It's just expensive for the premium stuff (Double Tap...Buffalo Bore...Gold Dot). I just picked up a bunch from proammo.com. As others have said, now is the time to start reloading your own.
If you are going to shoot the hot stuff, upgrade to a 19-lb recoil spring. If you want a lighter trigger pull, there's a lot of outfits that will sell you everything you need to get what you are looking for (I personally like Ghost).
But first, and foremost...go out and and do some shooting with it! It's a real hoot and certainly gets one's attention (especially with Buffalo Bore 180-gr JHP @ 1350fps).
