The Ruger 57 is a CA legal off-Roster handgun.

Because of its off-Roster status, a CA FFL dealer can only legally transfer it to an exempt person.

In addition, because the Ruger 57 standard capacity magazine is considered a large capacity magazine in CA, only the 10 round magazines are legal for non-exempt persons in CA.
^The Ruger 57 uses proprietary magazines that did not exist during a time period when it was legal for non-exempt persons to legally acquired them.

The FNH Five-seveN is a CA legal handgun that has two variants that are on-Roster and the other variants are considered off-Roster.

The two on-Roster variants can be legally transferred from a CA FFL dealer.
The off-Roster variants can only be legally transferred to an exempt person.

The two on-Roster variants come with factory 10 round magazines.

And please, don't post threads with a title like 'Question?'

There's 80 characters available in a thread title - please ask for what you want in the title, if it fits.

For example: "Is the FN or Ruger 5.7 pistol CA legal?"

That happens to miss the distinction between 'on-Roster' and 'legal to have in CA', but that's common enough.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Yes so true. Explaining to an inspiring shooting enthusiast how rules effect him/her on the following: On/Off Roster, CA 10 round mag limit, liberty week mags, AW, AW with BBs, mag locks, makes them go bonkers how stupid CA gun laws are. I always get asked what is the reasoning behind non rostered exemption of out if state gift from immediate family.
