J-frame grips

The uncle mikes 3 finger combat grips were excellent but have long been discontinued and used ones go for big bucks on eBay. Even the tiny uncle mikes boot grip was better than the current rubber.
Regardless of the grips brand, it helps a lot with control if the back strap has a thick layer of rubber covering it, it helps with recoil but also gives you a longer reach to the trigger. Without that your index finger will hang way out in front of the trigger guard making it difficult to transition your finger into the trigger guard and on the trigger. You don’t want to have to draw with your finger already on the trigger. This was my main issue with the j frames, the gun geometry is for tiny people or my fingers are too long.
You’ll shoot 357 mag out of it once in your life and never do it again. Ask me how I know??
Spare yourself the cost and stick with 38 sp. All the decent new revolvers chambered for 38 are +P rated so no need to worry about that.
I owned the 340 M&P, 360 M&P 3”, and a few 642’s but today don’t own any of them.
The 642 was my favorite but I still sold it after getting the LCRx.
Today I’m more in love with my Taurus 856 than any of those I had in the past. And Taurus new style factory rubber grips are great, no need to change them.

Altamont makes great grips (Altamont is OEM for number of manufacturers).

I’d check with Hogue. If you can wait , they will make you a set with the 3 finger hold in a j frame from your choice of woods butt caps spacers smooth or checkered grips.I own 1 in j frame and 2 in k frame round butt. There’s profile is similar to uncle mikes who’s original design was from Craig Spiegel..He might still make grips but I haven’t spoke to him in a long time . Five years ago he was at almost a year backlogged but his grips are amazing . He was the original designer of the boot grip copied by some today.Comment
