I don't normally shoot steel (reload) in any of my guns except for my SKS. However, I have shot steel from just about all of my semi autos just to see if it works. No more then a mag or two. I think its good to know ....It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Really doesn't gum up a properly spec'd chamber.
Also steel is so much cheaper thst if you get a dedicated training gun it pays for its in a year to three (depending on volumn).
We shoot around 10 to 15k of 9mm a year the cost savings in steel make senseComment

Steel in my Commie SKS/AK/Makarov guns.
Do any agencies using Glocks, Walthers, S&W, H&K, et al (US or elsewhere) train with steel?Comment

I have LEO friends that come out to my place to practice on their own dime. They bring steel when they pay and dept brass when the tax payer pays.
Your Q is more about money than reliability/performance.
Federal has huge .gov contracts with mil/LO. Is it any surprise many depts around the states use Federal brass cased ammo? Or any other brand brass case for that matter.Comment
