Smith and Wesson 29-2 Presentation Grips

No, I'm not selling grips. ;-)
I have a Smith and Wesson 29-2 with the 2Ts and presentation grips. Is it possible it came with presentation grips from the factory? I've always wondered whether they are original to the gun. Thx

Are you talking about Pachmayr Presentation grips, like this?

I was just about to edit the post... it has 2Ts (Target Hammer and Target Trigger). I'll add a photo of the grips/stocks

I may be going out on a limb here, but the only new Smiths I have seen with the presentation stocks were all some sort of special order affair.

I was going to add that I have a Model 57, Model 29-2 and a Model 27-2, all of which came in S&W presentation cases and all of them have checkered stocks. I don't really know if that actually means anything, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Mine all came with the checkered grips. I did put a set of those on my 19, I like them a lot. They are genuine S&W.

Don’t believe 29-2 ever came with smooth grips. They are so easy to change out anyone could have swapped them out for checkered originals.

I've seen anniversary revolvers mostly with smooth grips although, I've also seen some with engraved grips with the S&W medallion, IIRC.
FWIW, my old S&W Model 10 Calgary Police Anniversary originally came with a presentation case and smooth grip.

                    1970s - 1980s

S&W sold grips so you could change out the checkered to smooth. Just like the image I posted but the S&W grips came on a solid blue cardboard with plastic so you can see the figure on the wood.

I bought my first S&W revolver in 1979 and that is what I remember. Also S&W sold S&W branded ammunition in blue boxes.

Actually it was 3Ts, Target hammer, Target trigger and Target grips.

Spot on. My early 1980s 29-3 came with the checkered target grips which was swapped out for Pachmyr grips when I got home.

I initially had 3Ts in the post and remembered I had smooth grips with mine and not the target grips. So I just have 2Ts ;-)

I own a 629 Magna Classic.. only made 1200 of them. It has smooth grips with finger grooves… I feel the grips are too small for the frame, but not going to change them.
