What is the SKU on the commander? -
For the Glock, here's some pricing a buyer might find when shopping for a new Glock.
$655 msrp for a G21SF (similar to a G21 unknown gen).
to

If it is a 1991 not a 1911 and if it has the billboard and is 45 not 9mm, then I just don't see $2k. There are a lot of variables and some possible stinkers, so we really need a lot more info.
You can get really nice C&R Series 70 Commanders for $2k - $2,500
Here is a nice LW that sold for $1750

And for $1200
So I just don't see someone paying $2k for a Series 80 especially if it is a 1990's model 1991. New in the box or not, they just are not that desirable compared to the older stuff or even the newer stuff.Comment

When he said 80 series I’d assume he meant the 1911’s that followed the original 70 series guns . Not a Colt historian but I classify all 1911’s made past the first 70 series as 80 series guns even to current models .I’m blown away that current Colts are going for the money that they are here in CA ....Save your hard earned money people and buy vintage , there such better quality pistols and in today’s crazy market there not that much more Money than current production guns!2k is steep for a 80 series... Just one gents opinion.Comment

For what it's worth, there are no Series 70 Commanders.
Series 70's 1911's were defined by the billboard "Series 70" logos on the slide and the use of a collet bushing (at least till near the end of their production), neither feature are ever found on Commanders. You can either have a pre-80 Series, a Series 80, or a post 80 Series without firing pin block often erroneously referred to as a "Series 70 firing system" despite the fact that no firing pin safety harkens back over 110 years to the original 1911's, not just the 1970's vintage ones.
Lightweight Commanders are my favorite for carry/all around, although the Combat Commanders are great for high round counts and frequent use. My oldest Colt Commander is a 9mm dating from 1951."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
