    Yet another Glock 26 question

I'm not much of a Glock person. There is one for sale where I shoot for $440. This seems like a decent deal. Is there something I should look for if I do pursue this?

Smile marks on barrel, if any.

For that price, if it’s actually “lightly used” and you’re in a CCW friendly county, then do it.

For range fun, there’s better options.

Smile makes can happen at low round counts too though. I have one with no marks at 3k rounds. One with marks at 120

For about $100 more you can buy new. Lots of us Glock owners like to modify our guns. If you're not familiar with Glocks and how to tell if they have been tinkered with you might be better off with a new one. The G26 is a great gun for CCW though, and at $440 I'd be all over that one.

I think in California that's a good price.

Although it's not a precision long range tool, in my opinion it's one of the most versatile small handguns because it can use all other Glock magazines, of the same caliber. It might not be the thinnest and lightest pistol for CCW but lots of people conceal much bigger pistols without any issue.

If it was in the marketplace here that probably be asking over $550 for it, even though it's used.

The G26 isn't the worst range toy to have either. It is still a double stack and very manageable. But otherwise, I agree with the above. $440 is a fair deal if you are in the Bay Area. Even if it is well used. Glocks (and most modern striker fired handguns) will mostly like out live you. I have a G26, no CCW.

“Smile” marks on the barrel is normal for all Glocks. They’re “wear marks” and they develop almost from the very first few rounds going through a magazine or two. Any “tilt barrel” handgun (or 1911 with a tight barrel bushing) gets these wear marks. It’s 100% normal.

Everytime I hear someone mention “barrel smile marks” on a Glock as if it’s a bad thing, I chuckle. You should take a look at Hk barrels, S&W 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gen and M&P barrels, just to name a few brands. Also, the open top slide of Beretta 92 series of pistols show wear or “smiles” near the last 1/3 of the barrel.

L@@KING for these “smiles” on a Glock barrel, should not be the deciding factor in determining if it’s in “good or bad” condition. A better “look over” would be to inspect the barrel crown for any chips, dings or scratches. Inspect the barrel itself for any felt bulges. Inspect the lands/groves for pitting or excessive wear. Glock rifling is a bit different with polygonal rifling, but one visually inspects the barrel the same way. Further inspection would be to check the striker itself, but this may require some technical know-how from an experienced person. Nothing beats simply test firing the weapon as well.

To the OP, inspect the gun, disassemble it and ask the owner if he’s added any “imposter parts” (aftermarket junk) to the gun. It won’t hurt to ask. Also, you could probably pay your FFL $20-30 more to see if he’d be willing to look at the gun and give an opinion before it’s DROS’d between you and the seller.

Yeah the Gen5s tend to show sooner than other.

My guess is it’s a Gen3. I meant the smile marks in terms of coinciding with the “light use”, not as a determining factor of damage. If it’s a Gen5, then it probably wouldn’t be an indicator of use as those show early on.

You know, the ol “200 rounds through it” but appears to have tons of wear and looks definitely used (more like 20,000). Nothing wrong with that but if you’re looking for light use, then you’d be in for a surprise.

New g26 is around $410 plus tax fees via gssf

Why buy a used on roster Glock when you can just buy new?

dude frankly even if it's 1000 rounds... is it going to wear down that much?

Sounds like a good deal. $60 off of new and $75 worth of mags. Looks like a buy to me if you want a G26.

The only thing that would stop me from buying it at that price is if it has been stippled or gooned in some other stupid way. Beyond physical damage it is hard to screw up a Glock so that it can't easily be fixed.

Too bad he is not selling it with any magazines.

Maybe talk him down $10 and get in a heated argument about clips VS. magazines. Kidding, but actually making a offer on consigned stuff was pretty normal way back when. Might trigger someone today though and that is a good price.
