    Ruger Lightweight Commander model .45

Picked up a Ruger Lightweight Commander .45 as partial payment for a firearm. Came with the box and the documents plus extra magazines.

Anyone have experience with this model?

Buddy of mine has a Ruger 1911 I've spent some time behind. It's a pretty typical 1911. His isn't the Lightweight model, though.

What information are you looking for in particular? If you have any specific questions I can pass them along to him.

Curious to hear what others found, such as accuracy and reliability. I wasn't seeking this model but took it anyway. I won't have a chance to try it out for 30 days due to an operation next Wednesday that mandates no lifting or using core muscles. If these are sub standard then I might just move it on and not bother shooting it. Looks nice at least.

I've been wanting the Ruger Lightweight Commander in 9mm. Unfortunately, I live in California and it is not available in this state.

Wish it had a right-side safety, being left-handed.

Yes, it has a titanium firing pin and heavy FP spring so it won't fire if dropped.

Meh, Ruger 1911's are dangerous and should not be used. As a service to Calgunners, I will gladly dispose of these dangerous firearms, free of charge, and due to my generosity, I will even pay the interstate shipping and FFL transfer fees.

Seriously, had I a Ruger 1911, I would not get rid of it. I like 'em too much.

The OP valued it at 575.
