Langdon Tactical SCD vs. knock-offs.

I want an SCD for my Gen 3 G19.

Question: Langdon Tactical has a Gen 5 out, but nothing for gen 1-4, and I see a couple different versions on Ebay from other vendors.

Any experience with these "knock-offs/variations"? Worth the $65 for the steel version?...or should i just wait for Langdon to possibly put out a Gen1-4.

haha, I'm fine with that perspective, thanks. Just wanted to see if folks who've spent the money have noticed a difference. There isn't much of a price difference, but obviously a known quantity is a better choice.

If Langdon never puts out a product, though, i'm also wondering if the knockoffs are worth it, or if I just continue with Israeli carry. (Just a personal thing. Not comfortable holstering a loaded Glock w/ no external safety/indicator of a trigger pull.)

When I want one in the chamber - My XD has a grip safety that I don't depress, my revolvers have hammers that i put my thumb on, and my shield and my 1911 have external safety's that I snick on.

My G19 is a great gun so far, but it's always been my intent to grab an SCD for OWB/IWB carry so maybe I just need to be patient.

Well, just talked to Langdon Tactical. The Gen 1-4 SCD's are on order but with no timeline that they wanted to share.

No way would I cheap out to save a few bucks. No logic there, especially if it's for a part that apparently is used as a safety device.

Better yet, stick with the stock parts and learn the manual of arms and how to run the gun properly (including how to re-holster correctly and safely) and safely and you wont need this part.

LTT may never make a Gen 1-4 that comes to market. They only list Gen 5 and Slim line style models.

The offbrand re-pop's are recreations of the original Tau design in either aluminum or steel. Not being cheap, IMO (they're $65.00 compared to LTT's $78) - they're literally the only option currently for a Gen 1-4 Glock, other than finding an OG Tau SCD.

I have the original SCD from Tau as developed by Tom Jones/Todd Louis Greene. They are in my carry Glock 26 Gen 3 and carry Glock 19 Gen 3… And for something like this, I would go with the one from a reputable/reliable source like Langdon Tactical rather than saving a few buck$.

As for the value of the SCD - “I do me, you do you.” ;-)

I appreciate that. One thing: I'm not sure why folks keep bringing up the concept of saving money? That's not one of my motivations. if I could go online plunk down some $$ and get a Langdon Gen III SCD - that's what I'd do right now, but:

1. Tau OG's are not available unless you find a used one on ebay/gunbroker.
2. Currently Langdon Isn't making one for Gen 3's
3. Langdon MIGHT sell them at a later date, but isn't committing to a timeline, so it could be "never" at this point.

In that light - Would you give the knockoff's a try and just test the heck out of them before relying on them?

OR, i just thought of this regarding #1, maybe there is someone other than Langdon that has a supply of Tau-made Gen3 SCD's? I could look into that for sure.

Me? No.

I wouldnt be able to run through all the scenarios/rounds before I could say that the knockoff is indeed reliable. Unless, I am Aaron Cowan.
