    Agreed. I have one as my EDC.

    The "Right to Keep and Bear Arms" was not created by the 2nd Amendment; it was merely an acknowledgement of an existing, In-Alienable Right

    IN-ALIENABLE - Defined by Webster as: incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred .

      highpower, now you've created an issue for ME. I've seen those Stars come up on a C&R searches on GB. The reviews I've read had me on the fence. But the price is right, and I dig that they are familiar but unique. Plus, I don't think I have a Spaniard in my collection.

      BA, once I get my Kahr back I'll have him feel the trigger and see if he likes it. It does seem like the most obvious choice.

          If you can find a SIG P239 9mm on Gun Broker. Still on roster and worth it.

            [QUOTE=mk2dave;still looking for single stack![/QUOTE]

            Not on the roster. But an excellent single stack is the Sig P210 series pistols. I only have the standard model but there are also a target models with adjustable sights and a carry version which is lighter and has a shorter barrel. I believe they represent a phenomenal value for the quality you get. This is no BS, the inside of mine is as finely finished as the outside, there are zero machining parks anywhere on the inside. It is superbly accurate and easy to shoot well.

            With Armory Craft grips (highly recommended)

            I can say that of all my pistols, even those that are basically pure target guns, the Sig is the most accurate and has about the best trigger. The only one I have that is equal, is my '74 vintage Gold cup which is, of course, also a single action.

If he is only going to look at new single stack guns, I imagine he will probably have to settle for something like a Shield or maybe a 1911 if he is willing to look at them.

              I am not up on the roster as to what the Cali overlords allow you guys to have, but I picked up a Star BM a few years ago for $200 and it has been a solid little gun. It's an all steel 9mm compact and is maybe a little heavy for all day carry (which apparently isn't going to be an issue for him), but other than that, mine has been very reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to use it as my night stand gun. My only regret is that I didn't get two of them for that price. A quick look at Gunbroker shows that they have doubled in price over what I paid for mine. Come to think of it, I don't think they are C&R yet, so probably not very easy to find one out there. A Star B or Super B would also be a great choice and they are definitely C&R eligible.

              gratuitous pics anyway:

              I know that I'm not saying anything that you guys don't already know, but if your friend was willing to pay the Commiefornia premium, it sounds to me like he would be a perfect candidate for a Glock 48 or 43x. I have been using my G48 as my EDC for over a year and I really like it. Basically it's a single stack Glock 19 and they are very nice shooters.

              48 on the left and 19 on the right;

              First time I shot it, two magazines at 25ft. I know I'm shooting high and right but I am working on it.

                Regret not picking one up. But I haven’t seen one available for a while.

                    Kahr PM9 here with night sights and a Lasermax Laserguard, along with MagGuts follwers which allow 7+1 flush, and 8+1 extended.

                    Over 1000 rounds through it now, with one FTF on my first mag (didn't know how to grip the little thing yet...), and perfect since.

                    I did do 500 cycles and dry fires with snap caps for a break-in before hitting the range, which smoothed things a lot, and then it loosened more at about the 200 round +- point.

                    It's also important to lube correctly via the factory manual/lube chart, and of course practice with the DAO trigger if you're not familiar with them.

                    It weighs just 20oz loaded with 9 rounds of 9mm, in the size of a .380 sub-compact, perfect!
