Whatever gun is closest is fine.
But there are better choices. Especially if you live with others in the same house.

Great for making wood-screw pilot holes when you forgot the Makita at home.

Neat gun , low recoil, horrible ergonomics.

Round tends to be underpowered. The good rounds are not for civilian sales.

Great for small stature shooters due to recoil

            I wouldn't even consider a 5.7 if I didn't reload.

              All talk
Standard ammo does not go through level 3 vest, many YouTube videos on that, save 15 minutes, it doesn't goes through body armor.
One company made custom tungsten bullets to go through vests but not available for civilian use.

Ammo is expensive and hard to find, capacity is good, low recoil, hot round.
If Ruger 57 was allowed, cheaper alternative, fn paying for a name actually.

Waste of money, but its like 40 caliber in my opinion, not everyone like it and better alternative calibers, try 10mm or 357sig

stopping power, read an article by someone who shot amish home invader got shot and ran away, not stopping power.

What good is a gun that is too expensive to shoot much? You won't train on it much and you won't take it to classes...It would become more of a novelty gun. And if its hard to get ammo, it will get even less trigger time.

Practical fun! Good range rabbit gun. Great for zombies.
Real world applications, not so much.
That being said, I have a fde that I might consider trading.

Not sure what to call myself. Fan boi, geek, collector, etc.

I bought the FN Five Seven many years ago.
Now in NV I bought the Ruger 57.
I waited 6 months for a CMMG 5.7 upper for one of my 80% lowers.

I had a chance at a PS90 from a widow but the kids got involved and it disappeared into the mist of family. I did score a few thousand rounds of 5.7 before the mist set in.

I really wanted one, tried for a long time to get one and when I finally found one that I could put my paws on, I hated it. Grip is too long and odd shape for my average sized hands, maybe with bigger hands but it is still big. I will stick to my 1911 in 45.

I agree with most of the statements above. But I think where it kinda shines is the logistics department.

The FN Five Seven, mags, and ammo are so lightweight you could carry thousands of rounds of ammo in a backpack without the weight penalty of other pistols. I think its a great option to bug out with in case you have to take out small or medium game for food on prolonged periods of time.

Very niche pistol, but I enjoy shooting mine. Glad I picked it up with tons of ammo when it was still 15 cents a round.

Everyone who complains about the cost of ammo never planned ahead. I have enough Five Seven ammo to last my future grandkids. Palmetto had awesome deals with no sales tax and free shipping. Blue tip FN sold for 14 bucks shipped and Federal FMJ was 12 bucks shipped. But these are the same people who couldn’t figure out ammo was going to rise in general. Cracks me up to see shooters paying today’s prices.

As for self defense 20 rounds with a flush fit mag. Minimum recoil. What’s not to like? People tend to forget a Five Seven was sadly used in 2009 at Fort Hood. 13 warriors were killed and 30 injured.

At the end of the day use whatever you want. Not here to convince anyone to use anything. Not my monkey not my circus.
