    KIMBER DESERT WARRIOR???

I have been eying the Kimber Desert Warrior for a very long time, and almost ready to place an order, but I don't see it on the CA roster...

The Kimber "warrior" is on the roster, so does the "desert warrior" count as the same gun?

It's the pmapered version, basically the one you didn't want.

Differences - Finish color, trigger appearance, and...nothing.

No, they are not the same gun, as far as "CA-approved" is concerned.

The Desert Warrior was introduced after the "Magazine Disconnect" requirement was added to the CA roster, so it will never make the roster. The Warrior II was on the roster prior to this requirement, so it was grandfathered in, and will stay on the roster as long as Kimber continues to pay the required ransom fee.

Your avenues to purchase a Desert Warrior -
      1) Become an LEO and be exempt from many laws that protect ignorant plebeians from themselves,
      2) Purchase via PPT, and probably pay a hefty markup due to "unobtainium" status,
      3) Buy a Warrior II, and send it to Kimber to have it refinished.

Or you could have it refinished by a number of people here on Calguns who offer Duracoating services. Two that spring to mind are Technique in NorCal and wcnones in SoCal. I'm sure there are more.
      This is my sig line.

AFAIK the Desert warrior is not on the list but the Warrior II is. The difference is color and the Warrior II has the Shwartz F/P safety, the Desert Warrior doesnt have the Shwartz safety.

          Warrior

Dennis it seems we have the same taste in pistols.
I was peeping the desert warrior to go with my tan handbags but it's not on the cali list.
My second choice was the Warrior in black but that's not on the list either.
I searched for a Warrior II but can't find any for sale. Now I'm stuck with a TLEII/RL. At least it will match all my black high heeled shoes.

The TLEII/RL is actually a nice gun too. I bought the Glock from Minute Man and he can order the warrior 2, but you need to leave a 50% deposit. His price is SWEEET too (under retail), and the wait is not that bad at 4-6 weeks. Maybe I'll get the Warrior II and refinish it to Foliage Green to go with my foliage AR...

BTW, how do you like your new TLE II/RL...did you take it to the range yet? I still haven't clean my glock since the last time we took it out. That's why I love glocks, not high maintenance like my ex-1911s.

                Range 2X

                Yes Dennis.
Took it to the range 2x put about 50 rnds PMC and 40 custom reloads by Dr. Kim. About 150 22LR. thru the 22 conversion. CCI mini mag, thunder bolt, remington not one jam. Gonna take the wife to the range at 12 to send some down the conversion.
The factory PMC's aren't as accurate but the Dr. Kim custom lead SWC shoot pretty sweet. Need to still brake it in.
So when are you gonna sell me your AR w/ the conversion kit????
                Sent you a "private" PM.
                Dave

Dave, Not for Sale!!! Have fun with the kimber conversion. At least now you can have lots of trigger time at the range for dirt CHEAP!!! Oh yeah, how did the Federal Lighting 22lr I sold you work on the kimber conversion kit?

I have been trying to locate an AA conversion kit for the glock, but everyone is sold out. Ambient outdoors has it like 2-3 weeks ago at retail price, but I didn't jump on it. Now I'm kicking myself. I refuse to pay more than retail for one. Damn GB gougers.

Thanks I love it. Added some VZ grips, a Kimber magwell and about 1500 rounds. I would search out a warrior but I think the only difference is the finnish and internal extractor VS the TLE/RL. I have been looking for a Springfield MC operator with absolutley no luck.

please correct me if my logic is off, but basically this means i could do the following:

Have a friend or relative with a property in say, Colorado or Arizona purchase a desert warrior and register in their name, then bring it to california and sell it to me via PPT at any FFL of my choice?

would this also work for an H&K USP SOCOM or an FNP Tactical?

This is incorrect. You can only do intrafamilial transfers directly up and down your line. Also, PPT's are only valid between CA residents.

Keep in mind that you must get rid of any threaded barrels.

These are CA residents who own vacation properties in both arizona and colorado. would it work in that case?

and directly up and down the line being father-son = ok , Great uncle - Grand Nephew = not ok?

                              Father-son = OK. Uncle/nephew/brother type stuff = not OK.

As far as the residency stuff, I think you can only do that if you are a dual resident. You can't just be on vacation there and buy a gun, bring it back and file the registration form with the CA DOJ. Someone can surely clarify this.
