Let the pissing and moaning begin:
I just purchased a new Sig P226 DAK, .40 S&W. It arrived at the dealer the other day. I was excited it had finally arrived.
Upon opening the case, I was disappointed to see only one 10 rd magazine. I do not mind paying top dollar for one of the best brands in the industry. However, I also expect to receive at least two magazines with that top dollar purchase. It feels a bit like I've been bamboozled. Now I've got to go spend another $45-$55 for a 2nd mag, not to mention the shipping expense and extra time (because my gun shop does not have any left in stock).
The money is not much, but the principle is. I emailed "customer service" at Sig and received this message:
"Starting in March we began shipping our pistols out with one magazine due to a shortage of magazines. On July 3rd upper management decided that any pistol that was manufactured from that day forward will be shipped with two magazines. Your pistol was manufactured in March and shipped out in July so unfortunately your pistol was only shipped with one magazine. If you would like to order additional magazines you may call our retail sales rep.
His name is Andrew Sargent and his direct line is 603-418-8132. I believe he is currently running a special on magazines. We apologize for the inconvenience."
I replied and lobbied for them to make-good and just send one to me. I was politely rebuffed.
I guess when business is good, customer service can be ignored and it's easier to offer an excuse rather than a fair solution.
The cost for a new mag is mice nuts for me to buy one (and even less for Sig), but the principle of this policy has soured me. Unfortunately, I believe this may be my first and last Sig, which blows since I was looking forward to a couple more.
Rant over.
