Has anyone here owned or recently purchased a FN Five Seven?

How expensive is ammo for this gun?

Does anybody have any comments whos fired the gun before?

Ammo can be a bit tough to find, but isn't too crazy expensive. Expect to spend $20 - $30 for a box of 50 rounds http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/AMM254-5.html

That said, it is one of my favorite pistols to shoot. If you get the chance and have the means, it is definitely worth picking up IMHO.

I own an IOM pistol, and have shot the USG.

The ammo is not terribly expensive. Around $.50/rd at an everyday price, cheaper if you buy in bulk.

There is very little recoil. Follow-up shots are fast and natural. the textured grip on the USG is very aggressive, but manageable. It's not what I would pick first to defend myself with, but it's a good little pistol.

Out of state, it holds 20rds in a standard magazine, which is pretty neat. It's sadly neutered in California to 10rds.

shoots like a .22 but goes thru stuff like hot lead thru butter. Great for shooting out far/very accurate right out of the box. I love mines. BTW: out of state mags go up to 30 rounds per mag!

its easier to find this ammo compared to 9mm now adays.

I havent heard of a single person still alive which was shot center mass/headshot by a 5-7. I'd trust my life to mines!

Fun to shoot. I'm a novice, so i still suck. i'd like to get another one, one day if $$ permits it. Recoil's softer than 9mm. Although you get a pretty big flame thrower.

Love mine... At the 25 yardline I am grouping about 6" off irons sights plinking.


Ammo is easy to get at any of the online retailers. Sportsmans guide has the best price at $18 plus shipping for a box when you guy in bulk.

I have one and love it. Not the cheapest gun to shoot but if you just buy a box every time you see one soon you will have 30 or so boxes and it wont hurt as bad. That's how I did it.

One of my personal favs.. Get a few buddies to buy them too, and buy ammo by the case and split it..

Great accuracy - but I agree with the rest buy in bulk you can get the ammo for $ .34 +/- a round instead of $ .50 - that's a huge savings for they come in cases of 2000

Love mine - so does everyone else I let shoot and yes, the grip on the USG is aggressive - bites right into your hand. Which is odd considering the recoil is very easy...

I have two. Great fun, good for targets, varmints, and vest-wearing zombies. The ammunition shows up in bulk regularly for less than most centerfire -- though more than most rimfire.

I believe the IOM model is no longer being made and was replaced by the USG model. The primary difference AFAIK is in the trigger guard - the IOM is rounded while the USG is square. Otherwise, they are basically the same gun.
