pistol transportation question...

So I know that I have to have my pistol in a locked case while transporting I can't seem to find my glock case right now, As many of you know from my precious post on obtaining a CCW I live in a bad neighbor hood My neighbors car got stolen Monday between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM I get off work at 4:30 and tuesdays and thursdays I get off at 12:30 Well I was just told that a elderly lady down the streets house was also broken into the next day around the same time. All my guns are locked in the safe but I feel somewhat unsafe coming home unarmed so I want to take my pistol in my car can I lock it with just a lock? Also I can not have the mags loaded in the car correct?

You should move. I suggest "How to own a gun and stay out of jail" California editon 2008. You can find it at gun stores. It will answer most of your questions.

You need the gun in a locked container. Mags can be loaded but not in gun.

I don't know the laws regarding carrying concealed and loaded, but you can carry the weapon and ammo in your car in a locked container. The ammunition and firearm must be in different containers. You can even carry this in your backseat or on the seat next to you, as long as it's not in your glovebox.

Honda has it right. Even a lockable gun rug is "legal". However, if you feel the need to draw and load that firearm it had better be YOU or THEM, because when the cops show up YOU are going to look just like THEM.

I know enough to not do anything without knowing if it's legal or not and if not I ask here but I think Ill pick it up just as a reference. Like I said before my neighbor hood is not bad it's self no shady people on my block mostly older folks and kids I grew up with, BUT with economical situations and being surrounded by projects the crime is moving into my area I am working on getting out of this town but not until I can convince my folks to move as I am more afraid for them than anything and I simply can't leave knowing the danger they face around here.

I am not going to draw on someone in front of my house I just want a gun while walking in to my house as we have the nicest house on the block and I am afraid of coming home to someone in my house. So it has to be in a container it can't have a lock through the action?

Well, unless you unpack the gun INSIDE the house, you could easily break the law.
