    Mp5 - answered.

    Hello all,

New member, I've tried reading all the stickies and what not but apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area. I'm interested in the semi-auto pistol versions of the ar-15, ak or an mp5 variant. Please correct me if I'm wrong, all of these are legal with pistol braces, but not stocks. Is a side folding pistol brace, or collapsing ok for the mp5/ptr?

Second, I gather that it is illegal to convert a Franklin bolt action ar-15 lower to a semi auto pistol; but people are able to sell old semi auto builds as long as thats the way they were dros'd the first time? Also, there is no point buying an unbuilt lower because it cant be dros'd as s.a.?

Third where is the 2nd-nth page of this subforum. Theres like 7 stickies and 5 threads but no old threads.

I get the joke, but I'm not sure why. I'm trying to find out if what the people are selling in the handgun classifieds is kosher and transferable. I would rather ask the lot of you than trust the one person with the listing. If I was a cop why would I ask you, a 3rd party stupid questions?

P.s. I saw the thread on pistol braces after making this thread. So I see that they could potentially be banned soon.

Unfortunately in CA, you would be wise to avoid braces. And braces are about to be verboten nation-wide without NFA stamp.

So you're a little late to the party. Ok, very late... so all we've got now are cop jokes.

Pretty much this, and the fact that having any of those mag locked completely removes any of the fun factor, why bother.

Thank you for clarifying. I can understand that a brace looked uncomfortably close to a stock which made it a sbr, which isn't legal in CA. That sorta crosses the mp5 off my list.

Can I register an ar15 lower, thats presently unbuilt, that was previously registered/dros'd as semi auto? Should I just buy one of the complete ones in the classifieds?

Edit: I wrote that while p5 was writing. Are hellfighter kits against the rules for ar pistols? I noticed some of them in classifieds had the fixed reloadable mags.

Scroll to the bottom of the page, to "Display Options"; change the date cutoff away from the two week default.

You can fix that permanently in your User Control Panel - search for "Default Thread Age Cut Off"

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

Depends. If you come in here as a new member asking questions regarding something already in a very grey/gray area as far as legalities in CA are concerned vs the rest of the free world..this seems to be the trend.
New posters are usually asking about which Glock to get..blah blah blah..what's the best brand of AR to get..blah blah blah..and general firearm info. since they might be new to firearms.

Or if you asked a question that's been answered 100x without trying to use the 'search' button you might get flamed a bit. (Not saying you specifically)

                        But welcome to the forum!!

Case in point. Member since 2015. Low post count..which doesn't really matter but also goes to show he hasn't really navigated the site to see he's posting in the wrong forum. There's a whole "Marketplace" for selling/buying.

I was specifically referring to the people who are calling me a Narc for asking if something is a grey area in the first place. There is the rule in marketplace
where you aren't supposed to post on other peoples threads so I have to ask questions about semi-auto receivers elsewhere.

I'm not new to firearms but I'm new to owning them in CA, which is why my very first questions are what can I own? Its made all the more confusing by seeing things that are on the line for sale. I figured if I did want to buy something someday from the marketplace threads I would have to have at least some post history so that was a second reason for posting this thread.
