    Anyone shoot 41 Remington Magnum?

If so, why? (What made you buy a 41?)

I've never shot one. In fact, I've never seen one.

If memory serves me correctly, Shay (BigBoarHunter) always carries one as a hunting guide, and speaks highly of the caliber. Ask him.

Got a great price on this nickel 57-1 as it had been neglected for a while. With a lot of elbow grease got it back to where it should be. It's pleasant to shoot and it worked out nicely that ammo was still on the shelves during even the worst of the shortages.

Okay, that's a dang good reason to get one right there.

I mean, it's a great round. A tiny bit flatter than .44, less perceived recoil, hits much harder than .357. I shoot it better than .44, even though the difference is only .410 to .429. I have a couple 57s and a Blackhawk. I generally load Matt's wadcutters into a Special length case (Starline has new .41 Special brass) because that's how I roll. When Henry drops a side gate .41 Steel it will be mine.

.41 is usually for someone who reload, its not the easiest caliber to find at LGS shelves. Its a fantastic round, great for hunting and among other things. They are cult followings!

You reminded me I have these in 44 and 41 respectively. Given the weight recoil is no noticeable difference

Yea, was nice walking into pawn shops and even Big 5 and finding 41, 44 special and 300 win mag still on the shelves, although not stacked too deep sadly

I had a S&W M57. My brother had one and loved it. It was his favorite bowling pin gun. He claimed it had less recoil than his model 29. So, I found a used one at reasonable price and bought it. It came with 45 rounds of lead hard cast ammo (the previous owner apparently shot it 5 times and called it quits.)

Personally, I hated the gun. I only shot it a handful of times. It seemed, to me, to have a sharper recoil impulse than my S&W M29. While I always enjoyed shooting the M29, the M57 was no fun to shoot. I ended up selling it.

Now, if you thinking, well he's a wimp and recoil sensitive, I'll introduce you to my little friend the S&W PC model 500 3.5" (no comp). I love that gun, and its big brother my 7.5" PC 500 S&W (which has a fairly effective muzzle brake). The 3.5" 500 is truly an awe inspiring handgun. But, I'd rather shoot 50 rounds of 440 gn "bear loads" from that gun than a cylinder full of 41's from the M57. As always YMMV.

I have a 1986 RedHawk w/Leopold long eye relief scope.
I loaded up 100 rds this morning using a 215gr SWC, cast with range scrap and powder coated, propelled by 17.5 gr of A2400.
Hitting clays and steel at over 100yd is a blast. It’s amazing hitting a clay on the first shot at that distance.

I picked up a nice short 657 in the 80's. I had a friend who bought one first. After shooting it, I had to have one.

Would like to buy 357 Maximum ammo.

.41 Magnum has less recoil then .44 Mag, better ballistic coefficient, flatter trajectory and better penetration. Easy to reload. Designed by Elmer Keith, Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton. What not to like, it has no drawbacks.
I sold most of mine, but I still have Marlin and Henry rifles, S&W 657 7.5", Ruger Blackhawk Bisley Hunter 7.5", Ruger Super Redhawk 7.5" and Ruger Redhawk 5.5", Thompson Center Contender 14" barrel, didn't realize I still have that many.
                            I guess I like .41 Magnum.
