    Glock G19X

Seems like I can't walk into a gun store without being tempted by something.

This time I was bored and trolling gun stores with no real intention of picking up another gun.

Let me preface this by mentioning that I tend to browse through various Gunbroker auctions to see what certain guns are selling for, just to kind of get a handle on the current gun market. Usually after adding the shipping, and FFL fee, many times what seems like a bargain, isn't really all that much of a good deal. In addition I like to support my local merchants if at all possible.

Welllllll, I was browsing the shelves of this store, not really looking for anything in particular but the price on this Glock G19X attracted my attention. Just for reference I already have four G17's and a G19 really I don’t really need another one, but I have never been the kind of guy to let need outweigh want.

Anyway, I had a gun that I never shoot (I only bought it to help out a friend that needed money) and was looking to sell. The store owner gave me what I wanted for it, so the total cost OTD was a $110. I'm happy with the deal and am going to take it out to the desert today along with a couple of other Glocks and run a couple hundred rounds through it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like it.

My user name was taken from when I used to shoot the NRA Highpower matches. I got up to being rated as expert before my eyes went to hell and I couldn't see the sights well enough to be competitive.

I primarily collect military firearms as well as Colts and pinned and recessed Smith and Wessons, but I have a broad range of firearms interests that aren't limited to any one particular type or manufacturer. There is no denying that Glock pistols work with boring reliability and are relatively inexpensive for what you get and that is one of the reasons that I like them. My primary EDC is a G48 with shield Arms 15 round magazines, the 19X is likely going to take over nightstand duties.

As for Hipower pistols (notice the difference in spelling) I have a few of them. They are certainly nice enough, but mine are becoming worth too much to shoot anymore.

Quite frankly, while it is quite popular in certain circles to look down on Glocks, and most folks view them as mere utility guns, the early versions are very collectable (as well as the appropriate bits they came with). I recently saw an early Gen1 G17 bullet box sell for $735 on Ebay and it is not uncommon for early owners manuals to sell for upwards of $300 and even the early mag loaders will sell for over $100. Any time I see a deal on a collectable Glock I will be all over it.

I'm confused by your signature says you are in Tennessee but you "took it out to the desert"? Are there deserts in Tennessee?

It is always good to learn more about some of the members here…there is usually a interesting story we all have…at the least as it relates to our guns. Thanks for the post and info…

Gotcha, congrats. It's none of my business but thanks for letting me know, I was wondering if climate change had affected Tennessee that badly!

If you ever have a chance to try it, sip some Old Smokey Peach Tennessee Whiskey.

My LGS has a M17, M18 and a couple CZ Shadow Oranges in their “LEO” only case at “normal” prices.

                          Makes me sad.

Need to pay LEO 2-3x msrp and they will sprinkle magic privileged citizen dust to make it safe during the ppt process

My father in Florida bought me a sig custom FCU I built into a Legion and a G19x I pick up tomorrow at my new favorite FFL. Friendly FFL Services in San Jose. The owner, Brian, know his stuff with intrafamilial transfers. Highly recommended.
