My sister in law has a Llama .45 1911 clone that was given to by her dad. The gun is 40 years old. Today when I talked to her she asked if I were interested it buying it from her. She says it hasn't been shot in who knows how long. Probably 15 years or more. Off the top of my head the gun need to dismantled and gone over by a gunsmith just because it's 40 years old and she says it has some rust on it. Assuming the gun is in reasonable condition, What would be a fair price to offer her.

Llamas have soft steel and are basically worthless. I would pass and put the $350 towaerd a quality 1911.Comment

Agreed. Llama IXA (1911 clone) are probably the most inexpensive and lowest quality 1911's I've ever owned. I purchased one out of curiosity over 20 years ago brand new for $180 and then sold it not long after. They are VERY rough and as others have already said, are not 100% compatible with 1911's as many parts will not interchange. In fair condition with rust, and even in this time of ridiculously inflated pricing, it's not worth more than $100-$150.

If you pass and she is willing to sell this gun as a project and you are located in LA/OC/SB area let me know. I'm one of the few people I know who actually semi collects Spanish guns and I ocasionally like project guns.

I guess I've been lucky, but I love my Llama in 38 super. No problems what so ever. I've owned a few 1911's of different brands and currently own a Colt and a Springfield, but for say $250 I would buy it just for something else to shoot.Comment
