Handgun Choices

If you can buy it easily and have a choice, which one of the following would you buy and why? What is your experience with it?

4. VP9 Match
5. Canik TP9SFX
6. Walther PDP OR

Maybe my daughter will buy one for me.

By the way, my wife likes a Kimber LW 1911 stainless steel 9mm pistol best.

Depends what is the use. Some of those a range guns, some better for competition, some for defense.

Shadow 2, unless you already have a CGW SP01. In which case it’s prob too similar and not worth it.

My $0.02, get the s2 and p320 x5 legion. Choices 4 5 and 6 are polymer frame striker fired (will they really be any better than an on roster g34 with apex trigger…) and 92x performance is crazy hard to find and more costly than s2 when it comes up

Edit: If you are able to do intra family transfer via your daughter in a free state, get a case of s2 and p320 legion. You can try em out and will easily be able to sell if you don’t like them or get bored with them

So far, Shadow 2 has more vote? I recently bought a SP-01 which feels pretty good and shoots good.

SP01 is a damn nice gun. I had an SP01 (until my son claimed it), and I compete with an S2. The SP01 is a smaller frame, so it fits the hand better if you have small-to-medium hands. I had to put a Reach Reduction Kit in the S2 before it became truly wonderful to shoot. But the S2 is a beast size and weight wise. Great for competition, but if I needed something to also serve for self defense, I think I would prefer the SP01.

I have a CZ Shadow 2 and P320 X5. I like the P320 X5 better as it fits my hand better. It’s weird for I remember a Springfield P9 fit my hand like an Isotoner glove. Maybe I need to try new grips with the Shadow 2.

If I reside in a free state right now, I would get the Sig p320 X5 Legion for range toy and competition.

It takes the same mags as the SP01. Its just a little bit bigger, not sure what other poster was crying about how the S2 is so much bigger and heavier than the SP01. The SP01 is junk compared to the S2.

I had an SP01. Ditched it for a PPQ 5". Now I also have a Shadow 2. The SP01 isnt even comparable to a S2.

That solely depends on what you plan on doing with it. If you eventually want to sell it, the Shadow 2 or better TS2 are the winner. If you do USPSA Carry Optics, the same is true, but the gun is not legal in IDPA because it's too heavy. I have an X5 Legion for IDPA Carry Optics and it's a fine gun, but that primary purpose of that gun is competition. It's too heavy for anything else.

Looks like you picked mostly competition pistols. For range use, I'd go with a H&K Expert or Sig P227 instead. And then there are the 1911s and 2011s, which are true connoisseur guns. I can think of a few I'd like to own of those.

I have the S2O and it's very accurate. The front site is narrow so accurate aiming is easy.
