    Different Sig P226 Models

What's the difference between the standard Sig P226, the MK25, the Extreme, and the Scorpion? Also, only the standard and the MK25 models are on Sig's website; the Extreme and Scorpion are not. I know that the Extreme is still being made because a few LGS have deliveries occasionally and they're brand new. However, the Scorpion I haven't seen in stock for the past few years at any LGS. Since it's not listed on Sig's website, is the Scorpion a limited run version that's no longer being produced? And what about the Extreme, is it a discontinued version being made just for California?

the difference are the beaver tail, front serration, internal parts coating, srt, chrome lined barrel and i'm sure forgetting some more.

i have regular P226 and mk25. the mk25 has chrome lined barrel and internal parts coating.

In addition to the comments above, I believe only the MK25 has a true piccatinny rail (flat bottom). Other P226 models, such as my Navy (with the engraved and white highlighted anchor) have the curved face proprietary Sig rail quite similar to the true piccatinny rail.

Other differences include standard three dot and Sig night sights, and grip panels.

My Sig Elite has the proprietary rail. For me, it's not an issue since I'm not mounting anything, but there are over-rails that are picatinny if that's an issue. Kind of a pain, though.

Materials too. My Stainless Elite is significantly heavier than the Extreme. It's by far the nicest of common P226 variants, but it's been discontinued for years.

It appears Black/Nitron available per Sig website.

The P229 Elite California version was made available in California.
May have been available on a limited basis. May be true for P226.

Sig has a lot of models labeled "elite." The "stainless elite" is significantly heavier and comes with beautiful wood grips. They stopped making them about five years ago, or so. If you search for "sig stainless elite discontinued" it will show photos and discussion on various Sig forums about it.
