    HK 4

I think HK should reintroduce the HK4 back into the market. HK does not carry any product below 9mm. Ruger, Smith Wesson, Baretta and a few others carry 22, 32, and 308 but different guns. HK4, a single model was interchangeable across all 3 calibers. HK4 would make a great CCW for seniors.

I'd buy one if they did-much more comfortable to shoot than a PPK/S

I have one in my safe, they are pretty interesting. Originally my Dad's it has the .22 kit as well.

I would be interested. Mostly for the 22, but the whole set would be fun.

            I used to have a HK4.

When I bought it used it was an ex west german police gun in .32 ACP.
I felt sorry for whoever carried it as it would not reliably feed ammo into the chamber, even with standard ball ammo.
Inspection found the barrel feed ramp was overhanging the frame ramp.
I carefully reshaped the barrel ramp so it matched the frame ramp and the gun was now very reliable.
This was my first "gunsmithing" job.

OK, so once the bugs were worked out it was time to shoot it.
.32 ACP seemed fine but I wanted the .380 round so I got a .380 barrel.
The .380 was a lot snappier than the .32, recoil went up a bunch.

Next I found the 22LR kit which was a pleasure to shoot but the fixed sights would not allow a precise dial in.
BTW, for police training purposes, the .22LR mags are limited to 8 rounds to match the 8 rounds capacity of the .32 mags.
There is a metal rod attached to the floor plate to limit the mag capacity, this was easily cut down (back in the day when it was legal!) and the mags would then hold 12 rounds.
Interesting feature on these guns was the removeable breech face which unscrewed from the slide, you moved the firing pin to the top hole in the breech face for rimfire ammo and the center hole for centerfire ammo.

There is a nylon frame buffer to cushion the slide's impact at full recoil.
This buffer would crack after a while, faster when using the .380 rounds.
I made new ones from delrin nylon and they worked well.

This was a very good gun, well made and reliable once everything was matched up.

Eventually I tired of it and sold it, now I wish I had kept it.

BTW, there is also a .25ACP barrel and mag set, so four calibers in the same gun, hence HK 4.

              Cool little gun.

If anyone has the .22lr extractor as a stand alone (or part of the .22lr kit)—and you’re willing to let it go—let me know. Been looking forever for that little guy.
