Has anyone been able to successfully register a Polymer80 build with the CA DOJ in the last couple years?

Reno May has YouTube videos on how he did. I'm not sure what he did was the only way rather just how he did.

To save expenses and trouble, OP should just go buy a Glock.Comment

But *when* did he do it? I also registered some before the cutoff, semi auto too.
But now there is an embedded steel requirement (3.7oz) for all self made poly hand guns and long guns, in addition to no semi auto handguns allowed to be made. So I don't see how he did it after the July 1 2018 cut-off.
Even if you legit want to make a single shot bolt action P80, it does not have the embedded steel to be legal to even make that in CA. It is not even legal to make an AR from a self built poly receiver in CA unless it has the embedded steel in the receiver
A firearm manufactured or assembled from polymer plastic on or after July 1, 2018, shall contain its unique serial number on 3.7 ounces of material type 17-4 PH stainless steel. This stainless steel piece shall be embedded within the plastic receiver or frame upon the firearm's manufacture or assembly.Last edited by SkyHawk; 01-20-2022, 11:26 AM.Comment

I know of one case where it was done (accepted and complied with all applicable CA laws/regulations).
CA DOJ approved CA legal self-made dimensionally compliant bolt-action single-shot pistol with a polymer receiver.
The receiver was 3d printed to include the required 3.7oz of 17-4 PH stainless steel, which is needed for the CA DOJ approved info to be marked on.sigpic

the fact that he isn't sitting in prison when he filmed evidence of him committing the crime shows what a pointless ****ty and irrelevant law this is. unless you're drawing attention to yourself by selling the guns out of your van or basement, no one cares, keep building.Comment

I did prior to the due date of July 1, 2018. Had them serialized to spec. Had to use the inlander arms kit, used the same kit on all 3. I also took photos, and mailed myself certified mail of the completed builds. Also uploaded photos to a private folder on FB so that I could get a 3rd party time stamp on the photos. Basically just getting extra proof that I completed the builds before said due date. They "registered" just fine, rec'd a letter from the DOJ a few months later. For whatever reason I also kept my Inlander arms kit.Comment

I was able to before the door closed...serialized and everything. I had the serial laser engraved on to the provided P80 metal plate on the frame. But it's all moot now since it's not possible to get anything not on the roster registered.
I think it actually shoots better than my G19's.
