Colt 45 Value Question.

I have a pistol that I am thinking of selling, I obtained it at least 25 years ago, and I am not sure what it is worth. I am hoping the experts here can give me an idea to its fair value. Here is what I know:

It is a Colt 45, 1911 Mark 1V, Series 70, Goverment model. serial# 09637G70
I would guess I have shot 500 rounds with it.
Many years ago I had a gunsmith add the stainless parts (see photo), Matted the top of the barrel, added target sights and added hogue grips (I still have the original grips)

As pictured, you could get 750 - 900. The mods will bring down the price. If you have the original parts, put them back on.

FC is correct, the changes to the gun will lower the value. Also of concern is the Millet sights. It appears to be the Millet dual crimp front sight. This limits the ability to change the sights without welding up the slide where the front sight was installed.

I'd say $700 - $900 if you have the original blued Colt parts.

Serial number dates it between 1976 and 1980. Just saying.

too bad its not factory original,what a waste of a 70 series colt.all those upgrades,idiot mark,and holster wear will definitely bring down the price.i personally would just keep it instead of losing money on it unless you ready need the funds.

A waste? This gun is what it is. Someone out there wants it and that's all that matters. There's more to guns than their potential resale value. In fact, who cares? Guns are meant to be shot.

When they rolled a immaculate '69 Trans Am with less than 3000 miles by the original owner across the Barrett-Jackson Auction block, I felt sorry for that owner. Yeah, he made some serious coin that day but he slaved over that car for decades and never even drove it. What a waste of a '69 Trans Am.

Laughed all the way to the bank. He might not have "Enjoyed" the 69 Trans Am like most people would have however he probably enjoyed walking out with that much cash in his hand to buy something more fun.

Yes, you are correct his is 1977, a "70G" prefix would be 1975. The large
letters stopped in 78. Pete
