    On roster 1911 commander

What are the on roster 1911 commander in 45 acp, I'm looking for my next. My budget is $1500.
I saw a Dan Wesson valor cbob today for $1599
The only others I've seen are RIA 1911.
    Does Springfield make a commander.

Under $1500 and available in CA, you have limited options. There are ten Kimber 4" .45acp listed on the roster though. You might have a look.

But I'd get the Dan Wesson or hold out for something to pop up in the Calguns marketplace.

I've owned 2 kimbers, I just don't like the firing pin safety plunger on the slide.
The Dan Wesson is calling my name I just wanted to see if there was anything else.
RIA 1911 are ok but I would like something with a nicer finish and better sights.

Dan Wesson Commander Classic Bobtail $1800 ..

Most of the Kimbers are either out of stock or discontinued.

I would get the DW, I have the guradian in 9mm and it's nice.

To be overly precise, Commander length is 4.25” barrel, based on original Colt Commander. Some knowledgeable folk may tell you that once you go less than 4.25” barrel, you may have more reliability concerns (I have no opinion re that as I have never had one <4.25 barrel).

Ed Brown KC is well over your budget but it is on roster.

In that price range, I'd definitely recommend the DW Classic. I recently picked up a new one at The Gun Range in Sac for right about $1450. I've had a couple of these over the years and they continue to get better. My current one is tight but smooth, put together nicely and has a great trigger. I haven't shot it yet, but I have done a couple of things to it (Installed Ed Brown 10-8 style rear sight, Harrison Design medium smooth trigger with internal trigger stop, and VZ slim 320 grips). Now I just need to get it out to the range.

I briefly had an RIA GI Commander 1911. Pretty cool.
