    New Springfield Armory 1911 Operator...Operator?

Looks like Springfield is splitting off their railed 1911 from the Loaded series into the Operator series. The MC Operator is still listed under the Loaded series and the Operator series currently only has one gun called...Operator.

I like the on-roster MC Operator (PX9105MLCA18) since it's a railed 1911 with smooth front strap for future customizing, so I hope they keep making that one for CA.

I like the rear sight that can be used on the steering wheel.

Revolutionary! Out of the box thinking for sure.

Off roster, so I'd rather buy other guns with what this one will cost.

Nice gun and good company. I have the Loaded model and now need to replace the night sights after all these years. It is the workhorse of my 45 automatic 1911s. I enjoy shooting this gun more than my Colt Commander.

There are probably more Colt fans out there but I like what I like.

Nice looking 1911. Hmm, my b'day is coming up...

                    Did they pin the ejector??

I've read anecdotal posts on 1911 forums that it is glued. I would believe that based on Springfields price points. The MC operator price is in the same neighborhood as the Loaded Target which has a glued ejector. Its pinned on the almighty TRP though.

So much for a USMC operator model. At least Springfield has great customer service and can finally pin it after you send it in after it falls out after the glue no longer holds.

...finally pin it after you send it in after it falls out after the glue no longer holds.

I am not defending SA, however, when the ejector-to-frame bond breaks, the ejector continues to serve it's function and the gun continues to run and run and run... the slide running above the ejector keeps the ejector in place.

I finally took mine to a good, local 'smith (Randall Raush/ar15barrels) who pinned in place the new ejector piece that Springfield sent to me. Pistol is a Parkerized Loaded.

NOT TRUE!!!!! Why do you say this? Is this a fact?

I took out my trusty SA Loaded Target 9mm, to go shooting with my nephews and guess what happened, the ejector became dislodged and THE GUN LOCKED UP HARD! I had to send the damn thing back to SA headquarters with slide locked up out of battery. This gun had 5700 rounds down the pipe. Luckily, the glock 19 was sitting on the bench ready to go.

This is a far cry from "the ejector continues to serve it's function and the gun continues to run and run and run... the slide running above the ejector keeps the ejector in place." Come on man, why spread false information?

To take it a step further, is this tolerable for a gun that you keep under your roof, that might be called upon do defend you or your family's life? A glued part that may or may not fail?

Not everyone is a Calgunner who have stable of ARs, shotguns, and pistols to select from. Some people might have a make a hard financial decision for their first gun or two. This could be their main gun.

Shortcuts like this are what give 1911s a bad name and soils Springfield Armory's reputation. I don't fault the craftsmen under the same roof who build their higher quality guns. I fault the decision makers who elected to cut costs and increase profit thinking that it will be cheaper to handle warranty returns than to do it right the first time.

                            Calm down.

The ejector came loose in my 5-year-old (at the time) Parkized Loaded .45

I did not notice, even when cleaning, until the second time I cleaned and lubed it, I guess.

Guess what? The slide kept the ejector from flying away from it's perch, and! you'll never guess what happened next: the ejector continued to function and empty brass was pulled from the chamber then ejected laterally onto the ground. Amazing!

I have since had the ejector replaced and pinned. I've put about a thousand rounds through the pistol, since. Shot it yesterday, in fact. Ran great.
