    Off roster upgrade worth it?

Currently have an XDS 9, with flush, 8, 9, and 10 (Hyve) round mags, and several sights I've tried with it.

I've been interested in the Hellcat, mod2 XDS optics ready, or 365XL.

Since we're limited to 10 rounds, do you think it's worth selling to upgrade?

I've shot the normal 365 and don't like how small it is. I don't want to go smaller than the XDS with the 8 round mag.

Also have a reservation for slide milling for the XDS.

Only the XDS mod2 uses mags with less than 10 rounds.

It looks like 10rd mags are around $30 for the other two I'm considering.

So let's here some debate if it's worth it. XDS is 8-10+1, so I'm not sure 1-2 more rounds (10+1) is worth it.

Getting the slide upgraded (including cerakote) will be around $200-250.

So, are we talking about spending an extra $1,000 for an extra two rounds of capacity? That would not be worth it to me. But if you dislike your current handgun and you were getting your dream gun, that might be worth it. Also depends on how much disposable income you have.

Biggest benefit would be potentially easier concealment. I have a good idea what I can sell the XDS package for, so I'd probably pay 300-500 for one of the others.

Thank God for the roster. I'm grateful that I can't actually handle any of the guns I'm interested in

My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.

Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

I own a few off roster handguns that were gifted to me by my out of state kids, and I can tell you none of them are worth the Ca off roster prices.

I have a standard Sig 365 which I do love for its size and capacity, but actually I prefer shooting my Kahr PM9. But I think my daughter paid sub $500 for it? but in Cali at 2 or 3 times its US price, you gotta be kidding me. I can see a 2 or 3 hundred dollar upcharge, but a 200% mark up?
But that's me, if its worth it to you, go for it.

With a quality holster, bigger guns conceal easier than smaller guns.

XD's aren't taken seriously in the self defense training world. You'd get more mileage out of spending that money on a class with a nationally recognized expert on concealed carry.

BRB, getting a Desert Eagle to replace the Ruger LCR after hearing some amazing news.

Also getting rid of the XD for having a two failures with remans (fired after the second try) and otherwise flawless 15-16k rounds.

Must also throw away XDS. I now know that it's ease of concealment I've experienced is fake news. The reliability has also been fake news.

I have no experience with the XDS Mod 2, but I do have experience with the P365 (various models) and Hellcat. Between the two I would pick the Hellcat. Far better trigger, grip, and capacity. Both conceal equally as good.

Is this for real? Do people reqlly carry at 1200? Gun pointed right at your junk? Maybe they do, what do I know. But plenty here are hesitant to appendix carry. How TF do you sit down?

Phlster has great reviews, and appendix is a widely recommended carry position. Once special forces combat vets, contractors, etc. started recommending and explaining why, it's become very common the last 5 years, and something I'd urge you try (after watching some good videos).

Comfort sitting down will depend on your body and the barrel/slide length. I definitely wouldn't want to carry a full size appendix, but taller guys don't seem to have an issue.

My 5'5" friend AIWB carried a G34 every day at work in a JM Custom Kydex holster. Quality belt, quality holster, not morbidly obese makes it not too difficult.

Note that Phlster doesn't sell XD holsters; he said that the XD attracts a type of customer that ends up being a time suck for him.

The proper CG answer is get both. I have both an XDS and P365. My XDS is in .45 though. Cool thing about the P365 is it’s small enough to pocket carry.

                              VERY COOL, BROTHER!

Rob Leatham sometimes carries a 1911.
John Lovell sometimes carries (essentially) a Glock 19.
Mike Glover sometimes carries a Glock 19.
Reid Heinrich's often has a revolver for a back up gun.
Shawn Ryan sometimes carries a Sig 365.

THOSE IDIOTS NEED TO CARRY BIGGER GUNS LIKE U N UR PAL!

Admittedly, I am a lesser quality idiot than that lowly collection of one of the greatest competition pistol shooters in history, and several special forces/military combat veterans, and several of those with LE experience, and of course some of them with CIA contractor experience as well.

Thank you for hijacking the thread. I am going to ignore my personal experience, and the experiences and advice of the aforementioned experts.

PS- thank you in a big special way, for continuing to reference the Springfield XD, which was not a gun model that the thread was about.
