    Dual resident?

I currently have a drivers license for CA and OR. I'm in Orange County right now, and will likely be here for school. However, OR doesn't have a sales tax, and I can buy the gun and leave with it in 10 minutes.

To me, it's probably worth the trip to OR to get the rifle and handgun I'm looking for at the same time. Are there any issues with doing this so long as the guns are CA legal (compliant)?

It is illegal to have a CA driver's license and any other state's driver's license.

At this time I have a CA identification card and an Idaho DL. I turned in my CADL when I got my IDDL.

I do not purchase firearms in CA any more.

That's what I thought. I moved to Oregon and applied for my license, they said there was a CA hold on my license and I'd have to get it cleared up.

I drove across the border, paid a $650 suspension fee for an unpaid non-moving violation, and they asked where I was living. I said in Oregon so they gave me a CA license with my OR address on it.

I went back to OR and told them my license was cleared up and I wanted to get my OR license. They took my picture and gave me a license.

When I moved back to CA I went into the DMV and told them I needed to change my address. They said the system showed I had an OR license. So I showed him I had both, a CA and OR license and he said "Oh, ok." and changed my CA license address.

I thought you couldnt have dual residency, my friend had a Ca driver license and then moved to Minnesota, when he got his DL there, they took his Ca DL and punched a hole in it, then gave it back? So if i am not mistaken, you can have a drivers license in one state and an ID in another? Just curious becus i am a P.I. and i work ALOT in Arizona. I sometimes live there temporary while i work. I thought i couldnt get a DL over there and keep my CA DL?

I think my case was a mistake, but I don't see how it could have been made with all the new security when trying to get a license or ID.

If you think it's a mistake then you surely have to correct that with DMV because in the end you will be the one to pay the price or penalty. Rule of thumb is that you should carry only a (1) DL to the state you reside or consider your primary residence.

CA allows you to have dual DL's I live in Ca and Ms and have both DL's. It's totally legal.

I lived in California, then moved to Florida. Florida took my California DL away. 4 yrs later, I move back to California. Went to get a CA DL and found out that it has always been active. They never even asked me to present the FL DL. Didn't care. I re-newed my FL license with the CA address and it went through. It is almost as if, once you are registered with a state, they want to keep your business and allow you to re-new, even if you moved out of state permanently.

Fro commercail drivers license (CDL) it is definitely illegal to have more than one states drivers license. Most states also have this requirement for regular drivers license (non commercial). DMV's do make mistakes (surprise surprise) but I would probably be quiet about it If I was luck enough to have two drivers licenses.
