Why lever action instead of bolt action or semiauto? Because it's cool 😎
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

I agree with training but maintain slower shooting with less ammo will cut down on collateral damage.

That, Sir, is a most beautiful specimen of Americana as can be found. Anyone should be proud to have it as a part of their collection. Thank you for sharing.

Personally though, the revolver grip that fits and feels the best no matter the power level of the cartridge, is a Smith and Wesson K, L or N frame with the N frame feeling the best with magnum loads. If I could only have one revolver, I would probably opt for my M27-2 with the 6" barrel.

I've recently been considering getting another single-action revolver after selling the one I had years ago (but instead of a 7.5" .44Mag; a 4.6" .357Mag next time).

Whether nostalgia; part of wanting to be knowledgeable/experienced in its function/operation; and the ability to carry something different. Practically-speaking, I don't "need" yet another handgun. I've already several Glocks in various models/sizes which satisfy my carry/self-defense needs. I'd just want it to reward myself for whatever I need a reward for the prior days, weeks, months, years, or some personal accomplishment/encouragement.

Get one. Try one. Don't like or need it? Sell it or give it away. Or don't buy/get one. There are no reasons needed for obtaining/owning a firearm.

I will have to admit the Baldwin incident has re-peaked my interest in SA revolvers (as well as revolvers in general)...

For some reason the model3 s&w has my fancy lately. Old-west gun with near modern loading ability. Had s&w made it compatible with .45lc one has to wonder if the colt saa would have become the defacto old-west revolver?

                        I love telling this story:
So some years ago, when I was taking my first CCW testing, one of the gentlemen in the class was a - let's just say golden age individual. He shuffled up to the line, and proceeded to put the tightest group of .45 holes in the target with a 3.5" Cimarron SAA. He clearly knew what he was doing!

Historical versions vary but it seems that Colt held the patent for the .45 Colt cartridge and didn't authorize its use in other firearms. I believe this is what instigated the Model 3 and the .45 Schofield cartridge.

But, all I have every owned are DA/SA. I have a Model 10 and a GP100 with spring kit. Both of their SAs are very nice.

So, for those that love the SA revolvers, why? Is it just the nostalgia, or something else?

                            Thanks
Nostalgia and something else. Its like buying a manual shift vehicle. You shift and you have control unlike the modern autoshift and the newer auto/manual mode done by computer chips.

The SA's have simpler mechanism, something that appeals to old people like me
