Why a SA revolver vs DA/SA?

Many of you posted on my revolver thread - appreciate the replies. Since my Python fell through, I'm considering a SA to go along with the Winchester '92. But, all I have every owned are DA/SA. I have a Model 10 and a GP100 with spring kit. Both of their SAs are very nice.

So, for those that love the SA revolvers, why? Is it just the nostalgia, or something else?

    Thanks

Nostalgia and they are fun. They do have a different style of grip. Since most of my shooting is done SA, it is not a drawback that there is no DA. My CCW pieces are all semi-autos. I have many DA revolvers but I generally shoot them SA.

Why single action? To better period match your lever carbines. There's just something else about a single-action sixgun.

Why single action? Because they can be, in the case of Ruger, Freedom Arms, and whomever else build tanks capable of very high pressures, great hunting arms as well.

Why single action? Because in between the first two answers in my post there lie the Ruger flat-top .44 Specials which can be used with handloads in the sweet spot (loads between OTC .44 Special [246-grain LRN @ 750 fps] -and- .44 Magnum [240-grain SJFP @ 1200/1250/1300 fps]. That load being a 250/255-grain LSWC @ 1000 fps, from the "perfect packin' pistol".

Your results may vary, of course. Do not overlook the fantastic Ruger New Vaquero or any Colt SAA chambered in .357, either. That is another force to be reckoned with.

        blah blah blah

          Daaayum! Beautiful!

To follow up with that, single actions are simple, durable, reliable and can be exceedingly accurate - not to mention they can digest some of the most powerful calibers without issue, and the follow up with powderpuff target loads.

I will also say, I know some guys love mag dumping a half box of 9mm and get a thrill - but some people just love dropping the hammer on a big slug and waiting for the 100 m gong to ring

Just be careful; they tend to pull back their own hammers, and pull their own triggers, so I've heard.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

They do, yes; but only when poorly handled by flaming libtard actors who egregiously disrespect firearms... Known otherwise as "criminal nonchalance".

Don't be a flaming libtard and the sixgun will serve you well.

The only SA I've owned was a Ruger Single Six convertible .22 L.R/ .22 Mag.
Turns out that .22 Magnum is about 2 thousandths bigger diameter than .22 L.R. Making L.R rounds not as accurate and .22 Mag ammo costs as much as 9mm or .38. On top of that, loading and unloading takes a minute. I sold mine and got a S&W 617 .22 L.R. SA/DA revolver.

Not as clumsy or random as a blaster. An elegant weapon, for a more... civilized age.

They’re fun, easy to maintain, and sturdy; try to find a “four-click” model

Despite their ability to go off without pulling the trigger they have a look all their own.
