    Glock problem...... what?

My slide keeps locking open after EVERY SINGLE ROUND on my glock 22. Only does it when actually firing a round. I've never had an issue with any of my glocks before. Where do I start?

3rd gen glock 22, factory except for lone wolf 3.5# connector. Newest generation drop free mags, and a older ca 10 rounder, same issue with both mags...

    Did you disassemble the gun?

The spring for the slide lock may be on top of the pin and not under it, making the slide lock force into the upper position, holding the slide open. If you take the slide off, is the slide catch raised, or sitting low on the frame?

Or, you're holding it so your thumb is forcing it to catch the slide.

the slide catch is kinda free floating, there's no upward or downward resistance.

The problem is most likely the slide stop spring. If you have gone further than field stripping, removing your locking block for example, the locking block and its pin must be inserted first, before inserting the slide stop and then the trigger pin. If this is done in the incorrect order, the slide stop spring can wind up on top of the slide stop spring instead of underneath, causing the malfunction that you describe.

Remove your locking block pin slowly and carefully to avoid kinking the slide lock spring. Remove the trigger pin and then the slide stop. Then reinsert the locking block pin, the slide stop and the trigger pin, in that order.

That should fix the problem. If not, or if the slide stop spring is bent/kinked when you remove it, you'll need a new slide stop unless you can find the spring as a separate part.

Edit - since your slide stop is "free floating", remove it and see if the spring is damaged or broken. That would be my bet.

Watch your thumbs or it was reassembled incorrectly.

It's not the thumbs, I shoot old school revolver style.

              probably crappy mags.

jk, did you check the slide release spring, if you're unsure about it, post a pic and we'll see if its in the right place.

Did this gun do this from day one, new out of the box or just start all of a sudden?
On my glock, it sometimes doesn't lock back on the last round fired, but the mags have aftermarked springs and base pads so thats probably the reason.

Field strip it. Make sure its put togethere correctly. Also clean it make sure you do not over oil it or it will gunk up and things like this will happen. Do not oil your spring!. Check out youtube if you dont know how to oil it correctly.

You should only need about 4 drops to oil the whole gun.

It most likely is the slide stop spring assembly wrong. Like what tonyM and Grumpyoldretiredcop had mentioned. Let me see if I can find some image online. It will be easier just to do it for you than try to explain over the internet.

First of all, baby step. This is the slide stop spring we were talking about.

and when insert to your Glock

it should be under tension right below the locking pin, which is here

If you insert your slide stop correctly, you should be about to move your slide stop freely up and down but it should hold tension against upward.

                      Hope this help.

Slide stop spring, as others have already pointed out. Let us know how you fare.

It's a bit hard to tell but I don't think your slide stop spring is at where it should be. Take the lock pin out, and reinsert it but this time make sure your slide stop spring is press under the lock pin.
