    New CZ 75 SP-01 questions

I should be grabbing my SP-01 from the shop today, NIB with no frills yet. Anyone have any recommendations on a good OWB holster? I've used Tier1 in the past for IWB and they are pretty comfortable, curious if there is better out there. Even some old school leather might be a nice touch.

This going to be my fun/war/carry in the desert/hunting gun (not hunting with it, just on my hip).

I'm a sucker for modifying. As I don't shoot competition I'm assuming a compensator/muzzle devise would be nil in it's returns (but don't know yet). I like red dot's but I'm still only about 500 hundred rounds into my 365 XL with the Romeo on top so I know I have a way's to go before I become super comfortable with it.

I've read CGW is the place to go for parts, not scared to swap some parts out on my own. Mainly looking at improving the DA pull and trigger reset. Appreciate any advice.

For my SP-01T w/ RMR, I'm running a G-Code RTI mount system and Shooks Customs Custom Taco OWB holster. The RTI mount allows me to swap out different holsters w/ a RTI hanger.

I spent many years behind the Beretta 92F and have some familiarity with the DA/decock system. This just happens to be my first CZ 9mm pistol. I have a Scorpion but I'm assuming the trigger pull is light years of difference between the two. I picked up a 97B but being light on 45 ammo I have only begun to warm her up.
I like the look of the rear target sights on the Shadow so I'll look into seeing if I can have those put on.
Not super concerned with retention as far as I would be fighting with someone to keep them from clearing my leather with their hand. I'm no ninja but I'm pretty aware of my surroundings minus a good nap. That G-code RTI looks pretty nice. Having a modular system can be pretty beneficial.

Never even heard of a "Magazine Brake". I've been stuck using my departments Block guns and newer to the world of CZ and Sig. I still have to use those things until I retire but I don't think I'll be buying one again.

Yeah - I have seen this with CZ75 shooters, including myself, in competition. When the magazine doesn’t drop - one tends to do the “tactical flick of the wrist,” “jacking off the gun,” pulling the magazine out, etc. Totally inefficient.

The on-roster SP-01 does not have a decocker.

I am blessed to be able and buy the off-roster one's, got it for $800 an change in Hesperia. Might not have been the absolute best price but the cash was burning a hole in my pocket.

Fortunately, CZ's are normally not that hard to work on. Unfortunately, putting that decocker sear cage back together is a PITA.

CGW has complete kits or you can buy a spring kit to play with. They also do slide milling. Just ship them your slide and optic.

I considered a T1 OWB (I have on AIWB for my carry), but went with the 1441gear curve OWB. I ran it in IDPA this past weekend and I liked it a lot. No flopping around, retention was perfect, quality is really good for a slightly less price with a little over week to ship.

two things here. One, order the CZC speed brake, its cheap and easy to install. Two, the magazine release spring allows one to "over press" the release and actually catch the mag on the other side. Lookup the magazine release spring hack where you bend one side about 1/4" up to limit the button travel. Works great and is free

I just installed the brake over the weekend. So far I am good in dry fire. It will be a week or so before my next match for me to try it out live.

For the “spring hack” - I remember seeing that as a YouTube suggestion. I will need to check it out again.

                    Thanks

PS: Yeah, due to the prodding of folks - I am switching to the CZ platform after 3-years with a Glock 34. We will see how it goes at least until the next 6-months.

The brake helped a bit but my issue has been hitting the release harder during a COF than I do I dry fire. The hack helped the most I think

I'm switching to CO and going from a bull shadow 2 in production to a Tupperware P10F....

I maybe like suffering. In spite of vision issues (I use off-the-shelf corrective lenses) - I still like shooting production (iron sights). Definitely been holding off on CO.

Will see in the next few months.

If you say off-roster - it is the SP-01 Tactical

+1 one for the brake. I was wondering why my mags won't fall freely when I still had the stock brake on my CO SP01. My friend suggested a CZC brake and mags fall freely form there on.

I will be able to put my hands on it "finally" in the morning. Just coming off of a double shift so I will probably rack out as soon as I get home. I'll look at the receipt for the verbiage and take a few pictures. Other than shooting the 97B (x2) for a total of maybe 80 rounds I'm still very new to CZ's. Just taking the 97B apart was a unique trip for me.
