Any difference between a 1911 grip safety from a Colt USGI to a Gold Cup NM?

As title states. Im looking to fit a stock grip safety on a older Colt Gold Cup. I see many on sale on ebay listed as USGI, some say parkerized, some say blued. Was there any difference in the finish of the grip safety from a Gold Cup NM to the regular mil-spec Colt 1911's?

Mine currently has the duckbill safety. It feels good, but not very attractive.

I'm going to guess the Gold Cup is a blued.

Parkerized is probably something you're least interested in.

Generic "blued" today can be anywhere from black to a dull unpolished blued.

Yep! Blue is what you want.

Where all the 'blued' safeties all the same? I keep thinking back to how Colt has different levels of bluing on their snake guns. I'm trying to keep the pistol as true to period as possible.

Having seen the changes in quality of Colt 1911s from 70s products through the rough 90s, into the CNC and MIM my answer will have to be NO.

You'll want it to be blued, however as others have mentioned, the you might get variations (matte to fully polished). The one on my Colt made from the 70s had turned to a plum color over time.

                Well......... I hear ya there.

                All my guns are:
                1) set up how I want to shoot them.
                2) able to put back into original configuration.

Example, I installed a mag well, then pulled off the OEM MSH and put it in a bag labeled for that gun to put back on at a future date.

There's a chance (low probability being a Colt if you get generic Spec parts) you'll have to fit the safety and put a file to it.

I have one of those grip safeties. They suck. All the ones that don't require the frame to be filed down, suck. If I don't want to be bleeding after I'm done shooting, I have to Michael Jackson it and wear a glove on my right hand.
