Does anyone own any single action revolvers?

Does anyone own any single action revolvers?

I want to pick up a 45 Colt, but a true SAA is hard to come by.

Should I go Uberti or Ruger? Why?

I own 3. All Rugers. Colts are nice, but for the price of one colt, I got 3 Rugers. They are built like tanks, and are all stainless. Take a look at a Colt, a Ruger, and an Uberti, and buy what you like best, and can afford.

AGW in Glendale usually has both Taylor's and Cimarron clones, and Ruger Vaqueros, in .45 Colt. (They usally have 1873 rifles, to match, as well.) The Taylor's look the business; the Rugers are a bit more rugged, if you shoot a lot.

Only have one, but it wouldn’t classify as an authentic era single action. It’s a 10.5” Ruger Super Blackhawk stainless in 44 magnum.

I have 13 single actions, all Rugers. Not as pretty as a Taylor, but the Rugers will outlive my sons and grandkids.

My one and only Colt SAA. This doesn’t get shot. I’ve never liked shooting the
SA,the grip is something I’ve never liked. If I shoot it will be the 1911,Python,
or other 22s like S&W K frames. The Colt SAA does look nice. The 4 clicks when
you cock it let you know it’s the real thing.

So far it seems like Ruger is getting the nod

I have six Rugers (.22LR (2), .22M, .357M, .44M, .45LC) and a Freedom Arms in .454. I love them all. The FA is the cats meow of hand cannons and I feel very secure in “only” having Rugers vs. having Colts. Before I go after anymore guns I want to focus on dressing all of these up in some nice leather rigs. I like classics, revolvers and 1911’s are my thing and my single action wheels hold a very special place for me.
Life was simpler, and more honest, when revolvers and lever actions were the rule.

Don't get me wrong, the Ruger is awesome especially the old large frame Vaqueros

but it is still not a Colt...

Yes, a Colt SAA is hard to find. I was very fortunate to find two recently but I have no idea when I will find another one.
If you want a cowboy style replica of the 1873 there are some nice ones available from Taylor's & Co., Uberti and Cimarron Firearms. They go for about $600 to $900 depending on the model but Colts are $2,000 by the time you add the sales tax.
The Blackhawk is the single action revolver made by Ruger. Like all Ruger revolvers they are solid well made guns. They are available in the blued finish or stainless finish and come in several calibers. They cost around $800 MSRP.

Be warned, if you buy a cowboy style single action revolver you will eventually want a lever action rifle to go with it.

I have a 45C Uberti Cattleman. It's light, shoots great, looks great and was inexpensive. I paid $460 seven years ago.

I doubt you'll hear much bad about them. I also have a Single Six. Same deal.

I love my Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 magnum. Great single action revolver. I prefer revolvers over pistols.

I would also go with a Ruger (over the Uberti) of the limited choices you have posted.
I could say things like they are made in America, made to last, have a good reputation for customer service or any issues you might have.

But to me one big mechanical thing that makes them different is the fact that the Ruger Vaquero and other Ruger models uses a coil type mainspring (a more modern and arguably more durable type of spring) and Uberti revolvers , I believe, always use an old school style flat mainspring spring, which is how the original Colt Single Action pistols were designed. If you restrict traditionalist you might prefer that type.

I always like my guns working as long as they can before needing repairs so I pay attention to springs because I've seen an inexpensive Italian made black powder revolver have its flat style trigger and bolt spring break after only a short while from when it was new.

Yes, you can replace a flat spring when it breaks but I feel the Ruger is meant to run longer with zero issues.

I bought a Buntline last year. I love it. Hella fun, gets lots of attention, and shoots great.

Check out the rest of their line as well. For the price, hard to beat. I'm glad I went with this instead of a Colt for 3x as much. I am on the hunt for a 1st gen Colt, but these EMFs, I'm very happy with.

The Alchemista and the Dlx models have had a lot of folks on here rave about them. I'll likely get another in a more reasonable than 12" barrel length soon.
