    off-list single shot exemption

i thrid to reply to a threat that apparently was 2400 days old and would not let me comment

I have a HK P30LS that i'd like to sell in CA. i'm in vegas.
if i got an aftermarket magazine and pop-riveted the hole just below the follower, would that satisfy the requirement?

i've heard talk of needing a longer barrel also. not sure what that has to do with single shot but..............any comment on this?

It is no longer possible (since appx 2014?) to convert a semi-automatic to a single-shot.

It is legal, it just cannot be sold to non-exempt persons unless it is sold by a CA resident in a face to face PPT at a CA FFL.

So, if you are not a CA resident, then you cannot sell it here unless you sell it to a cop, and they will be looking for it to be real cheap because they can buy it from anyone and usually get LE manufacturer discounts.

As a NV resident wanting to sell a non-exempt off-Roster handgun to a CA resident, you can only sell it to a CA FFL dealer or to a qualifying LEO through a CA FFL dealer.

As a NV resident you can sell on-Roster handguns or exempt off-Roster handguns to a CA resident through a CA FFL dealer.

Exempt off-Roster handguns are C&R handguns, CA DOJ BOF listed Olympic Target Pistols, dimensionally compliant single-action revolvers and dimensionally compliant bolt-action/break-open single-shot pistols that have never been semi-auto.

If the buyer has a father or mother thats out of state that can purchase the gun then gift to the person in Ca that would be one way of doing it, if you're not one of the special people with carve outs from the list.

probably why OP wanted to sell his gun here..... the rest of America might laugh at our stupid laws but they would kill to be able to sell a used gun at CA prices.

For sure. Even on gunbroker you can sometimes see the magic words of
“CA LEGAL” Glock 26 Gen 3 $799! *RARE* as if a ca compliant gun is rare or worth more.

well, of course i want to sell it at an obscene price!!! wouldn't you if you were in my situation?

prices were really high on gunbroker last year, and i waited. bad decision. the price dropped back to MSRP. however it looks as if they are going up again. if they discontinue it then that's better for me.
i have 4 of them. i didn't intend to get 4. at first i didn't think that having a safety would make a difference in price but it does. Ver3's with no safety are worth several hundred more....or were. i can just put them all in the safe and wait. i'm not hurting for cash and they are all NIB unshot.
yeah, it's a crazy law, but most gun laws in CA are crazy i remember when the hot item to buy was the SRB.......spring retaining bolt that took the place of the pistol-grip. then monster-man poped up along with the bullet button.
i'll deal with it unless someone wants to trade down from a ww2 full-auto thompson. lol
