    PPT from active service member.

I've agreed to pick up a handgun via PPT from an active service member.

Initial research says this is kosher so long as his orders and CAC have him stationed in CA (despite not having a CA DL).

Anything I should be aware of/watch out for/be concerned about? Any added paperwork I should have available on my end?

I bought a revolver from an active duty sailor who was living in CA but from out of state. There were no additional requirements for me, but he had to present extra paperwork - IIRC, his orders and proof of residency (lease?) - to complete the transfer. I had to wait for him to go back and get some of the papers, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.

Active duty Military with permanent orders for CA are considered CA residents.

They need to provide their valid active duty Mil ID and their permanent orders for CA, in order for transfers to be processed as a PPT.
