From what I’ve seen, they are on par with every other budget 1911. A hit or miss situation. I think TSAS is made in Turkey. As Rob said, its an off-roster. And if you can get an off-roster, you might consider taking a good look at all of your 1911 options.

I've only heard good things of the Tisas 1911, a great bargain for the price. Turkey has an excellent firearms industry

The distributor lists threebstocking dealers in California.
That was their reply to my email.

My P13 is a little fat to carry on horseback.

Now if any one who actually has one could reply I would like to hear what their opinion is.

On a search, I saw no Tisas handguns on California's roster:

As this forum often discusses firearms not available in California, it might be academic to discuss an off-roster handgun. There are some folks who are exempt from the Roster or who might obtain an off-roster handgun through other legal means, such as the intrafamilial transfer method.

However, the OP didn't state such an exemption. Discussing an off-roster firearm can become a time-waster for folks as any Californian interested in such a firearm/handgun only finally determines he/she can't buy that firearm.

It may also be a possibility that nobody on Calguns or even in California owns a 1911 from this brand. The OP didn't state or provide a link to which distributor was checked and what stocking dealers in California were listed. Even if there are dealers who can get a Tisas 1911, it doesn't mean that dealer can sell an off-roster handgun to someone who isn't exempt from the roster.

Good luck to anyone wishing to research an off-roster firearm with the hopes of someday obtaining such firearm. It's definitely possible, but not necessarily financially practical.
