Bought another Baer… Curious about magwell

Hi everyone,

I just bought another Baer, this time a Thunder Ranch Special. It’s used, has some miles on it and the trigger has some weird speckling on it (I’ll probably replace the trigger), but the thing that intrigued me most is the magazine well. It appears to be welded to the frame and separate from the MSH. Can anybody identify this magwell? I’m very excited to get this gun, give it a thorough cleaning and put through it’s paces.

I ordered up a 10-8 rear sight and Wilson BP ambi safety for it already.

Yes it is probably welded or silver soldered on. It looks like maybe a Briley magwell.

The frame has almost certainly been modified with a step cut, and you can see the grips have been chopped on the bottom to fit.

Any grips you ever want to mount will need to be cut down. Just use the original grips as a template. But I would cut them a bit longer and maybe fit them tighter, because it looks like the grip in your photo could have been fitted a little better...

You might just have that trigger shoe bead blasted or hit it with a soft wire wheel. Nice looking gun though!
