Yep, got one as an SSE back when SSEs were easy, shot it a handful of times, mostly for a laugh because it was garbage to shoot, sold it recently for an absurd price, and should have honestly asked for more.

It doesn't suprise me. They kind of remind me of an AR pistol. I built a couple of them and they were fun to shoot and suprisingly very accurate but just not practical. If they had a folding stock, that would be different, but then that would be a SBR.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Given how few comments have been submitted on the BATFE proposed ruling for braces, firearms with braces are likely to be reclassified as SBR/SBS on the Federal level, in the near future.
The BATFE can utilize the lack of comments as proof that the general public is in favor of the proposed changes.

The ATF comment period ends in about a month.

McQueen put down lots of bad guys with his in the TV show. Plus I think his was a 45-70. Pretty sweet. I saw used one in San Diego at a local store go for $750 and it was chambered in .22lr.

I've always wanted one just as a fun range toy. Could be practical in a free state as an sbr, make a nice home defense gun. But hey, many of us buy guns that have zero practical value, just because they're cool.

Was reading some history about the show and the rifle
And director wanted the 45-70 rounds in the gunbelt to Look Cool and show off the big bullets
                      But shot 44-40

                        Correct.

My take on the Mare's Leg is it was a carbine hacked and whittled down for concealment under a duster, cloak or other late-19th-Century jacket style.
What other purpose could it have possibly served? if not the gimmick for television.

Just like the birdshead grip (buttless) short shotguns, these things are somewhat useless for shoulder-fired aiming and therefore unusable when any marksmanship was desired beyond, say, 100 yards.

What other purpose could it have possibly served? Just like the birdshead grip (buttless) short shotguns, these things are somewhat useless for shoulder-fired aiming and therefore as a centerfire carbine unusable when any marksmanship was desired beyond, say, 100 yards.

I just rewatched the 13 hours Benghazi flick. There was one scene where a dude is laying down hate with a 5.56 m249 but has belts and belts of 7.62 ammo across his chest.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.
