Smith & Wesson M&P with Apex trigger

Need recommendation for a gunsmith that is well versed with the Apex trigger system.

Had a friend install my trigger.
Gun doesn't reset after 20rds. (Factory ammo: Fiocchi and PMC 40cal)
Had a gunsmith look at my gun. Replaced trigger spring.
    Same problem.

After doing some online research I see it maybe "Sear Fluttering?"

Need a "Apex 'smith" to work on my M&P.

Dont want to waste my time and $$$ playing musical chairs with mutliple gunsmith.

Any recommendations? I'm in So Cal 626 area.

Also want gunsmith to test fire my gun. I'll supply the ammo.

Old video from when they were still based near SLO

    Try that.

My M&P40 has around 80k rounds through it. About 50k with the FSS trigger bar set.

It's the trigger bar, easy adjustment. Had to open the loop up a bit on mine. You will need feeler gauge to check before and after.

Honestly, it doesn’t take a gunsmith to install or adjust the Apex trigger kits. “Sear flutter” was only a thing on early first gen M&Ps with the small sear spring. If your sear spring measures 1/8” in diameter, then you’re unlikely to be experienced sear flutter. And unless the trigger was stuck rearward, a new trigger spring isn’t likely to make any difference.

When you say the gun doesn’t reset, what behavior are you seeing? Does everything function check when manually cycling? With an empty gun and no magazine, rack the slide and dry fire to release the striker; while holding the trigger down, cycle the slide and then release the trigger to see if it resets. Then pull the trigger again and it should trip the sear to release the striker again.

First 20rds I fire the gun cycles fine. After that the trigger doesn't reset.
Need to drop the mag and manually rack the slide. Gun will shoot fine for another 2rds. Then problem repeats.

Does everything function check when manually cycling?

          YES.

With an empty gun and no magazine, rack the slide and dry fire to release the striker; while holding the trigger down, cycle the slide and then release the trigger to see if it resets. Then pull the trigger again and it should trip the sear to release the striker again.

Yes, I've performed this check. Trigger resets, however you can barely hear or feel the trigger resetting. The "click" is barely audible or tactile.

              Is it a 1.0 or 2.0?

1.0 has the loop. As others have posted, you need to tweak the loop. Apex has a video on doing so.

I had mine installed. Works great. GS did not adjust the trigger bar loop but he has to file some of the bump on the grip..

                  I believe it is a 1.0
Tried adjusting the loop per phone call with Apex. No luck.

I left both triggers in my 2.0’s alone from the factory. They’re still going bang. That APEX craze is range theatrics.

I don't know of any Apex smith aside from Randy himself from Apex.

I had the exact same problem as you when I installed the Apex kit into my 2013 M&P. I replaced the sear spring with the stronger Apex spring and it turns out that sear flutter wasn't the cause of the issue. Apparently the candy cane on the trigger bar needs to be opened up enough to allow a little bit of overtravel. If there's zero overtravel, the trigger may sometimes fail to reset.

Apex used to sell the heavy sear spring by itself but I only see it sold as part of a kit now: https://www.apextactical.com/duty-ca...it-mp-9-40-357

Here's a spare trigger bar. The candy cane loop is the part at the end that engages the sear when you pull the trigger: https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page...prod/393050000
Notice how the candy cane is closed practically all the way in the picture. You need to open it up when using an Apex sear. I opened mine up by 1.5mm using a flathead screwdriver. I used a guitar pick as a poor man's feeler gauge.
