You were in Torrance weren't you? I think I saw you selling a rifle at SharpShooters last year.
Not sure if he is still around, but Alan Tanaka used to work on AMT Backups.....and he's all the way in Gardena. Here is the contact info I found seaching on-line....not sure if he is still around or not though:

FYI I emailed Alan a few weeks a go about an AMT Back Up and he said he no longer works on them. YMMVsigpic

Thanks for the replies. I did contact Alan and he does not work on them any more, nor could he refere me to another gunsmith.
I want to lighten up the trigger, and after a few shots the barrel is rough when interfacing with the slide, improve consistancy of operation.
I have a few mags that fail to feed the second round, but will feed all others.
It would be nice to be able to rely on this gun, but not the way it operates now.~If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them~Comment

I've owned a few AMT DAO 45s and taken them apart. They're very simple and I really don't think there's a whole lot that can be done to make the trigger pull easier. The heavy pull is due to the very strong mainspring, the trigger return spring is fairly easy.
In what way is the barrel and slide acting rough?
Are you putting JHP or FMJ through the gun? I found FMJ and Remington Golden Sabre worked very well, problems with other brands especially 185 JHPs.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

There seeems to be friction between the barrel and slide, almost as if the barrel is too large for the slide.
I have tried FMJ and JHP, the problem seems to be the magazines. I have six mags and two work fine and four fail to feed only the second round. Maybe it is a spring problem?~If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them~Comment
