    Lets Talk 80% 1911

    Would you do it?
    How much is the ACTUAL Cost at the end?
    Is it worth it?

    Never done one thought about it doing one verse just buying one I figure Im just going to change a bunch of crap out any how so why not right?

      I think he's talking about building a 1911 from an 80% lower, just like you'd build an AR from an 80% lower or an AK from a flat. You buy a mostly milled frame and mill the rest at home using your drill press (or whatever tools you have.)

      I'm interested too, I'm sure someone on this board has done it.

        If you are thinking about it to save money, don't. You will spend more, but it will be something you made from what ever % you want.

            Expect it to cost over $2,000 for parts for a quality build. Add tooling costs on top of that.

            If you do it right, you can have a very nice pistol.

              if you have a mill or access to a mill and just want a beater it can probably be done for around 400 per unit (including tooling and parts)
