    P365 SAS vs x-ray3

I'd like to hear from those who have perhaps handled them both. I see how the SAS could be a benefit. It seems like anyone who shoots multiple pistols would want at least a similar style sight picture via the x-ray3. I understand the attraction of a smooth slide. I see the new SAS versions are ported. It seems a little overkill. Youtube reviews on the porting are mixed.

So, are there any real world advantages of the SAS?

    Please enlighten me.

I would pass on the SAS. It's more gimmick than function. I would stick with the x-ray 3 version.

variety is what makes life fun. choose what works for you and don't be afraid to try something different, you may like ... or not. at least you''ll know what you're missing ... or not.

My Dad has the SAS and I really dislike the gun. The controls are impossible to use. The green dot sight system is awful. At first it seems ok, but getting a fast sight picture is super awkward. Not to mention it is the broadest sight acquisition I have ever seen. Granted its a close defensive sight, but its not for me. The porting is also an odd decision. Tack on another $100 and you’ve got a snag free solution to problems that never existed. MAC had an interesting youtube video on his SAS. The sight was off about 6”. Anyway, sorry to be long winded. But the SAS is one of the oddest things I have ever seen a manufacturer actually produce. But it sells!

The newest P365 SAS's are non-ported. That said, the sight picture works fine in daylight and lousy at night; so I tend to think of it as a semi-auto J frame. I had Sig put the normal P365 controls on mine, as the P365 SAS controls were infuriating to work with. One advantage... I purchased a red dot sight plate from a company called Nameless Armament which allowed me to swap out the Meprolight Bullseye sight for a Romeo 0; thus allowing me to have a red dot on the SAS slide without the need to have the slide milled. This was before Sig offered the P365X slide now. In summary, I see no real advantage to having a P365 SAS vs. the normal pistol, particularly since you can get the P365X slide now.

It sounds like the SAS isn't something I'd be interested in. I better steer clear of them in my search. Thanks
