If you +p+ your 9mm gun for self defense, you are effectively shooting a .40 cal gun.
You're supposed to ignore the "man behind the curtain"... Physics.

The 9mm is better, and the .40 is mean.

The .40 also has more reliable expansion.

The warnings listed are from the speer and hornady manuals, which list in-spec ammo. It looks like marketing to me. .40SW really just cooks, even within the limit.

Of course but it is all antidotal. It also depends on you comparing on one platform, i.e. a full size Glock 9mm to a full size Glock .40. Because a big difference between a Glock and a all steel pistol.

Another variable is grip strength and proper technique, i.e. Weaver Stance or isosceles.

Go to a Range where they have rentals and you be the judge. If you want an easy answer stick to 9mm my friend.

Handgun manufacturers have no incentive to "approve" non SAAMI rounds being fired in their guns. That would be a nightmare for their legal department. Anyone using non SAAMI spec ammo needs to know exactly what they're doing and any problems are their responsibility.

SAAMI specs are created with an eye toward safety and being compatible with all firearms that can chamber that particular round. I think it's safe to say that there are certain firearms that can handle far more than a typical SAAMI spec round, there's a lot of variables, strength of alloys, design, etc.

Wait a freeking minute ... guns have recoil ???

Look ... people - if you want to be more accurate remember to practice exactly this ---► TIGHT WRIST and Eliminate recoil from your mind and body!

This talk about recoil only solidifies that you fear recoil and therefore when you fire - you flinch. Recoil = flinch and flinch = recoil.

Again - recoil doesn't exist. You have to understand this to be a better shot.
