Most of the people who bash Hi-Points have never fired or owned one. Their "prejudice" for them comes from their price point. You can't compare a Hi-Point with Sig or Glock or even a Ruger, because they are not even close in price point.

Hi-Point make cheap bulky guns, which work. It doesn't even have to be a throw away gun, because the manufacturer offers an outstanding lifetime "no-quibble" warranty, unmatched by any of the major gun makers. They'll just repair or replace it, and send you an extra mag for the inconvenience.

I have a second-hand C9 which I use as a plinker, and I mistreat it. Once a year, if I can be bothered, I will run a patch down the barrel, and wipe whatever internals I can reach without having to dismantle it, and it has yet to malfunction in any way.

I also have a Hi-Point 995 carbine, and that rifle is 100% reliable and amazingly accurate (to 200yds) for a $200 semi-auto carbine.

I am thinking of getting a CF380 as a cheaper beater gun to take with me out of town and for backwoods use and such. It can get scratched, dropped, lost, stolen without me freaking out..

even with sigmas your going to spend 400 bucks, If your going to spend that get a Glock, There is a G22 for 450 in the FS forum, and everyone knows how dead balls reliable Glock is, no one ever doubts them!

At that point, why not spend a little more money for a HK usp or perhaps a nice kimber 1911?

I picked one up a couple weeks ago just for the hell of it. I paid $225 OTD, which I know is high, but post Obama its actually not hat bad. The only thing I dont care for is the trigger pull, its pretty crappy IMHO. I usually use my Glocks, but I figured I would buy one because at the time I had the extra cash and it was available. I would saw, if you need a gun, it goes bang, but its about 85% reliable.

dont they come in a cereal box? look at the thing, how comfortable are you lining up your sights and shooting it in front of your face with a $150 gun, im not so comfortable.

Only 85% reliable? Sorry, but you were robbed! Just kidding. From what other people have said, some Hi-Point pistols are reliable out the box, and others need a little break-in of about 300 or 400 rds before they work very reliably. Trigger will also improve more rounds through it.

As the pistols use a simple blowback design, limp-wristing can cause the pistol to jam.

Having owned a C9 and then a Sigma and now a Glock 23, I say buy the Hi-point and try it out. Best way to learn first hand is to buy and try, sell it later on when you have tired of it and move up, you should be able to get most of your money back out of it so why not. I loved the Hi-Point when I bought it, but it lost it's appeal after awhile, and the Sigma is a nice gun but the trigger was hard for me to shoot straight with, so I continued to move up the ladder, Now I have the Glock 23 and really like it, but having the others is worth the experience.

I have a C9 and it eats all my reloads. I have not try factory loads on it yet since the price for new has gone sky high and that is if you can find one. The only problem I had was FTFire because one of my primers was seated the other way.

Kimbers are junk IMHO,
ill take a colt or a RIA 1911,
HK usp is what 300 bucks more than a Glock? and what about Mag prices? yeah ill stick with Glock lol

I shot a couple of Hi points and i'm not impressed. Some like them I don't, but thats me. Find somebody who has one and shoot that one. Never buy a gun unless you can shoot an example of the same thing first. It can have rave reviews or be ripped to shreads, but thats one persons opinion, not yours. From the examples i've shot, I would save my money and buy a used Ruger, if you can find one. I know a lot of people who bad mouth Rugers but you don't really see too many used ones for sale......I wonder why.

I have a hi-point .380 I love it, it works wonderfully I got it used. I have put 250rds through it with out a snag. Some say they are ugly and are goofy to take apart at first but once you get it, the second time is easier. I love mine and have no complaints.
(Glocks) Tupperware is meant to stay in the cabinets not in the safe.
Glocks suck!

My tupperware has put close to 20,000 rounds through it with little problem..i prefer my sig. Honestly I think that the highpoint isnt a bad gun if you want to save money...but if it comes down to saving my life I would rather get something made out of something other than recycled license plates.
